I now hold a copy of the book in my hands. I love the smell of a fresh new book. Although, I haven’t started reading it yet, the author seems to be mistaken about some of the content within Gooberz. Gooberz does, in fact, mention her diabetes (mouse cookies), as well as other mysteries. But I will refrain from anything resembling a review until I read it. Available on Amazon. http://lithub.com/when-biography-goes-delulu-writing-the-life-of-superstar-astrologer-linda-goodman/ IP: Logged |

I’m halfway through the book so far. The author seems to think Linda was delusional about refusing to believe that Sally was dead, but the author never addressed the fact that the supposed body of Sally was missing a prominent scar that the real Sally had—the Spider Line.IP: Logged |

That's such a sad story, having your child disappear and gone missing like that. I don't know the details of the story but my heart goes out to any parents who has that happened to them, I wouldn't wish that on my worse enemy..Linda was probably undone by this...IP: Logged |

Agreed. Linda spent her fortune looking for Sally. She co-authored a book called The Spider Line with the private investigator who was helping her. The finished manuscript was found in a storage shed that almost went to auction. I have always wondered while it was never published. I like to think that it’s because Linda found her.IP: Logged |

I made it through chapter 19 last night. I was a little disappointed that there was no new information. Well, until last night. Somehow, the author reached the family Sally stayed with while she was in a play. He revealed everything about the investigation into Sally’s disappearance. I didn’t know any of that. The lead investigator had just left the CIA. To call what he and his team uncovered shocking would be the understatement of the century! There is no doubt that Sally was taken. But by whom and why? My head is still reeling from all of this. Prior to this knowledge, the book was entertaining enough to keep me engaged. I must admit that I loved all the times that she mentioned “Linda Land.” And when she spoke to Linda’s close friend, Jerry, on the phone, I just had to smile when he rather matter-of-factly stated that Linda didn’t die and that it was her time twin who had died. I had always wondered if that was Linda’s double in her home. I’m not saying that I believe it. But I had to smile.IP: Logged |

Curiouser and curiouser. Sally was is a made-for-tv movie from 1973 that had a Nixon doppelgänger. Linda was convinced the movie held clues to her disappearance. IP: Logged |

Ooooo, secrets. I heard Linda Goodman reincarnated in Minnesota—home to Llewellyn Worldwide—and is currently residing near the purple glow of Paisley Park, now going by the handle "The Artist Formerly Known As Linda Goodman." IP: Logged |

I just finished it. In the Afterword, she talks about the 2002 storage shed auction of what many people found to be disappointing. Some might referred to it as junk. I’m certain that the author was unaware that inside a desk drawer purchased at that auction was a 5-sectioned reading of Gooberz by Linda. It was converted from cassette tape to two CDs to make them more lasting. I have copies.I will end with a quote on page 207 that was oddly synchronous: “[S]omebody said that they saw her [Sally] wandering a mall in Columbus, Georgia.” It is in Columbus, Georgia where I read those very words tonight. Do you ever wonder what it is about Linda that has so fascinated you? The ways in which her chart meshes with yours? Anyway, here is a link to Linda's chart. She was a full mooner. https://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Linda_Goodman

I just quickly researched her daugther. The official report was that her daughter died by suicide of overdose of liquor and barbiturates. And apparently Linda refused to accept the official report (especially since her estranged husband who identified the body as Sally's later recanted), believing it was a conspiracy and she spent the remainder of her life and money searching for her daugther. I looked at her chart, and she has confusing Neptune in the 5th house of children. IP: Logged |

Belage, Sam only identified Sally because the “double” was under Sally’s blanket. The real Sally had (has?) a spider line scar that this body double was missing. The CIA is notorious for using time twins as body doubles to fake deaths. I believe that Linda was correct. Linda wrote a book called The Spider Line. The manuscript was completed. It (along with a book Linda wrote about being related to Lincoln and other manuscripts) came up for auction when a storage shed fee payment was missed, and I was going to submit a bid for them, but it was a mistake that the payment wasn’t made. At least we know the manuscripts exist. The follow-up to Gooberz (Twelfth Night Secrets) was one of them! I wanted to read that so badly! IP: Logged |

Searching for Linda Goodman was published by the University of Iowa Press. Courtney's bio mentions she is a Midwestern gal from Eau Claire, WI, and she has another book published by the University of Wisconsin Press titled Daughter in Retrograde: A Memoir. I've been curious about her memoir since I saw her book cover at the store. I like her—I wonder what her Big Three are? I just bought her memoir, so maybe she'll drop her chart details in there... I noticed that we have a literary haunt in common! IP: Logged |

Well, I looked up that book. I was a little shocked at what I found. The last name is different from the one used with the Linda book. That’s why I didn’t recognize it. I actually met her while she was writing Linda’s biography! She definitely knew about the scar missing from Sally’s body double. She and I spoke about it. I wonder why she omitted that from the book? Anyway, she and I met in the mall, and she took pics of my copies of Star Notes. I have her email address and phone number. I wonder if I should tell her about how much I enjoyed reading the Linda biography? She tells a lot about her mother in it. I feel very honored to have met her. I’m glad she finally finished the book. That was her doctoral dissertation. I met her in 2018. It took 8 years to be published. I want to respect her privacy, but yes, she is a member of this site.IP: Logged |

I finished reading Daughter in Retrograde: A Memoir in a day. I couldn't put it down. It was like being in a car accident and falling into a pit. My eyes were swollen for three days, and I need to make a Costco run for a case of Kleenex. It appears we roam in the same neck of the woods. I work in West Central Wisconsin. For a long time, I managed a clinic helping heal people by day, afterwards going to a second job poisoning people in West Central Wisconsin bars. My best Pisces sister-in-law of Amery, WI passed away on May 20th, the night before my flight to Seattle for NORWAC, so I was already ripe for a trip to the pit stop of despair and sadness. Even more depressing than losing my best Pisces sister-in-law is witnessing the hole her passing left in the heart of my best Pisces brother-in-law. I discovered my best Pisces baby-daddy (& BFF) dead in his Eau Claire home on Thanksgiving 4-1/2 years ago. He was born in Chippewa Falls. The fact that these are the same small towns as the setting of Courtney's Daughter in Retrograde: A Memoir opens old, yet still tender wounds. Coincidentally, Michael Goodman lost his dad, Sam Goodman, on Thanksgiving Day as well. The Scorpio director Martin Scorsese filmed The Last Waltz, featuring the song "Up on Cripple Creek," on Thanksgiving Day in 1976. Coincidentally, The Band released the song "Up on Cripple Creek" around the time Michael Goodman's mom moved to Cripple Creek. Michael said he noticed at the time and thought this song about where his mom moved to was quite odd. I bought another copy of Daughter in Retrograde: A Memoir for my daughter. One of my favorite parts is St. Patrick's Day--I wanted to punch that guy too. A favorite line that comes to mind is, "you speak of myths in languages you invented." Funniest line (to me) is about the people "who showed up at four on a Wednesday"...and it's only funny because it's so true. IP: Logged |

Thought you'd all want to know...Michael Aaron Goodman (aka "Moe" in his mom's books) passed away in the morning hours of July 15th, 2026 in Hawaii. He's been an amazing BFF to me. I love him dearly. I will miss him greatly. And I will miss hearing his soothing radio-voice. IP: Logged |
