Gotta start a new thread!

This is a thread dedicated on all that is the "Twilight" series - the books, the movies, the soundtrack, the actors, the gossip.
Please share your thoughts!

I read the book series in just 4 days. At the time I needed to escape some harsh stuff going on in my life and "Twilight" was there to help.

Then I saw the movie and I was sold.

Is it normal for a 30 something year old to be as obsessed with this as I am?

Some eye candy:

There is something devastatingly sexy about a vampire with a conscience. The actors that played the parts were perfect for the roles too.

The movie soundtrack was perfect too!

Here are some of my favorite songs from it:

Supermassive Black Hole by Muse

Eyes On Fire by Blue Foundation

My other favorite pretty boy - a double Saggie!

...who apparently takes very androgynous pictures:

He looks a little like Angelina Jolie in that one, don't you think?

OKAY!!!

First your not weird for liking twiilight in your thirties, I am 42 and I like it. True it is not intensely erotic like Anne Rice's stuff, but she has decided to personally torture me by refusing to write any more about Lestat..... so where does a girl go?

A beautiful romance story is for all ages. Just like adults enjoy Disney movies and do not feel bad about that at all. So rock on with your love of Twiilight.

You are so like my daughter she likes James. She said "I like him cause I saw him in another movie that I can't remember."

And I felt Jasper was oddly appealing in the movie (cuz in the book, yuk) And here you go telling me he is a sag! BUT OF COURSE! says Gyspee in her best French accent.

As for me I am torn between Edward (so swoon worthy) and Jacob. Cuz I loooove the long dark hair and dark eyes. But then when he got all "wolfy" hmm not so much.

I thought book two was extremely drawn out at times. And I can only assume that the vampires in Italy will play into the story at a later time.

I'm gonna go to walmart and see if they have book 3 in paperback yet. They didn't for awhile, and I wasn't finacially able to purchase it.

But my little daughter read ahead of me at her school and leaked to me something about a wedding......hmmmmm

Gypsee,
So it's between Edward and Jacob for you, huh?
I have to admit, Edward as a character does me in (the actor in real life interviews -not so much), but I find Jacob utterly uninteresting.
Maybe the "New Moon" movie will make up for that.
Even in the books, the way Stephenie describes him - How can you think of him as more than just a friend?
Funny that Taylor is an Aqua - one sign that I could never, ever bring myself to like more than just as friends.
My best guy friends are Aquas...and I have Aqua Rising.
Maybe there is something Aquarian he brings to Jacob.
Maybe Stephenie thought him up as Aqaurius!

Since I am talking about astrology here:
The only character in the book that we know the birth date of is Bella.
September 13. I wonder why Stephenie chose that date?

Hi Yin I myself have just gotten into to this. I have two of the books so far but i'm guilty of watching the movie first.

"The only character in the book that we know the birth date of is Bella.
September 13. I wonder why Stephenie chose that date?"

That would make her a Virgo...Virgo is associated with the "Virgin" and if i remeber correctly.. EVE?
Edward is also Bella's temptation. Just my opinion.

Yes! It would totally make sense that Bella is a virgo/virgin. And being born on the 13th, well, the book does go into alot of detail about her being unlucky. As in clumsy, wrong place at the wrong time, etc. Hence the number 13. Although, I quite like that number.

I wouldn't have thought of Jacob as more than a friend, Yin, when I read the books. It was only after the movie, that I thought he was a total hottie.

I don't know what sign Stephanie Meyer would have Jacob be, he seems earthy, but that could be just because he's native american, and my mind associates them with being "of the earth."

Now Edward, c'mon he's gotta be a scorp. He's protective, possesive, romantic, troubled, intense, etc. Of course I always think of Vampires as being Scorpios.

Just tell me this one yes or no thing? Do they go into more detail in book three and four about Edwards past.

And.....Is there a rival love interest for Edward? Another lady, perhaps from the past?

I agree, the interviews with him are not as interesting as the character.

Most of my friends love twilight they were all passing it around at lunch, saying it's a must read..

I've read the first book and I didn't get that "perk" I usually get from reading, I guess I am not really for romance in any form even dark romance.

I saw the movie and all I could say was "EYEBROWS" and "STUTTER BOX" but other then that it's not that bad as some haters make it out to be by bullying twihards and posting stuff on blogs that say "Real vampires are bloody not sparkley blech".

Well,
if I had it to do over, I would have seen the movie first.
The movie left out SO MANY important things that the book explained thoroughly.
That's how it usually is.
I don't mind the twiilight haters. you'll have that with anything that wildly popular.
I just love any vampire movies, from the no-talkie Nosferatu, to twiilight.

Edward is a Gemini. He tells her when he was born in one of them. June
My books are loaned out or I'de find it.

To read Twilight with Edward as the storyteller, you can read "Midnight Sun" here http://stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html
This is an unfinished draft.
Someone leaked it and now she won't finish it.
I like it.

Birthdates:
Edward Cullen: 20 June 1901
Bella Swan: 13 September 1987
Renesmee Cullen: 10 September 2006

The rest of the characters have years listed but not specific dates.

Spike was perfection! I also like the character of Louis, but didn't like Tom Cruise in the role. I'm divided on RPatz as Edward. Stephanie really wanted a guy who's on the Tudors to play Edward (he's the one who marries Henry's sister).

Yeah I'm with you about Tom Cruise. If memory serves me Anne Rice was not happy with that either..,I seem to remember her taking out an ad in The Trades or one of those Hollywood papers. But then later, after the movie came out, she issued an apology to Tom Cruise.
I also remember him getting peed off becuz Brad Pitt was taller, so they had to put lifts in Toms shoes. lol.

Bumpity bump bump.
Gotta talk more about the series now.
The problem is I'm no longer as smitten with the characters as I was before I went on vacation.
That's what happens when you go on a cruise - your whole world changes thanks to excessive consumption of food and liquor (there is nothing better to do on a cruise.)
I guess I'm just not a cruise person. Plus when you get to see all the hard-working, not-overeating, underpaid and resentful employees clean after you every minute of the hour you have nothing left but to feel disgusting.

Anyhow - back on topic.
Interesting info about birthdays there!
So Edward is a Gemini!!!

Never in a million years would I have suspected that. I guess Stephenie did not base the character on a real person's b-day because he is nothing like your typical Gemini.
I'll put my money on "Stephenie doesn't care/know anything about astrology" What do you think?

Oh, yeah, and I'm ****** off about her not finishing "Midnight Sun"! The narrative was getting better with each book and the last one sounded like a delight. Damn you, thieves!

I am NOT feelin sorry for you Yin, you cruise sufferin gal!!!
jk.
Maybe she chose Gemini simply for the duality thing.
I don't know, he still seems scorp to me.
Let's just make him be what we want.
Cuz thats the way we roll.
Hope your vacay was great!!!!

I just can't believe that I got caught up in the consumption game - you know the more you do it, the better for your ego, the economy, etc. (That's what they teach you in pop culture, no?) I haven't had the pleasure to attend public school here in the US. I wonder if there is any mention of how dangerous for the soul consumerist thinking is... Somebody?
I finally broke down and completely immersed myself in my surroundings - pathetic.
Oh, Edward, Edward, where are you? Come and save me from myself!

No they dont teach you the dangers of consumerism to your soul, in US schools.
That is something you have to figure out for yourself here.
They even like to put subliminal images and words in cartoons to promote behaviours that would encourage consumerism.
Its a very difficult thing.
And very easy to get sucked up into.
