well I was bored, so I rented 3 movies.
And I actually sat thru them which is amazing since I have the attention span of a five year old. Here they are:

The Day The Earth Stood Still, starring Keanu Reeves.
Hated it. Well hate is a strong word, disliked it is more fitting.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, starring Brad Pitt.
Liked it very much.
Kind of a Forrest Gump meets the Notebook.
And we all complain about our love lifes! Imagine that as your love story.

Seven Pounds, starring Will Smith.
Loved it!
Almost stopped watching it, it is really slow to get started.
The end makes it worth watching.

Have you all seen any of these? What did you think?
Have you rented anything recently worth recommending?

I've only seen "The Curious Case..." out of those three.
Would and have been recommending it to people.
It's much more than a love story, it's a story about acceptance and finding peace with/within yourself.
Funny you mentioned Forest Gump and the Notebook. Those were the movies I thought about when I saw it too.
The message in all three was that if you wait long enough your love will come back to you.
I don't know if I agree with that one.
What about all the wasted time? What about all the years that you could have been together but you weren't because of some stupid vanity/ ego problem?
It bothers me immensely - probably because I identify with that situation.

I would love to see "The Reader" since I'm reading the book right now.
Has anyone seen it?

yeah, wasted time.
Depressing isn't it.
Maybe we should follow the words of Crosby, Stills, and Nash and.....

"If you can't be
with the One you love,
then love the one your with"

Seriously, you should watch Seven Pounds.
It is kinda like "Pay it Forward" in a way, but more intense.

"If you can't be
with the One you love,

Now, now, where is the fun and drama in that?
Seriously, how is that even possible?
If you are not with the one you love, be strong enough to not hurt anyone else by loving them halfheartedly.

Hard words to live by, no?

I'd love to see Seven Pounds when the time is right.

I have Basquiat, Ram Dass and something else at home to watch now but have not been able to get around to watch them lately.

I was thinking about hiring Seven Pounds the other day - stopped in front of it for a moment. Slow at the beginning? Always loses me there. But you say good ending so may give it a go.

I watched Revolutionary Road a couple of weeks ago. Had me rivetted. Didn't find any of the characters likable. Interesting movie. Not one if you're feeling down to begin with.

Looking forward to seeing He's Just Not That Into You when it comes out. Usually I prefer the fluffier type movies - rom-coms are my faves. I like the escapism.

The most recent movie that I really really liked was Quantum Of Solace.

Yes, PA, it is slow at the beginning, and that usually loses me too, in fact, I almost turned it off, and I'm really glad I didn't. It is really, really good.
I want to see "He's Just Not That into You," a.k.a. "The Life of Gypsee, and most of Her Girlfriends." But I don't know when I will be "hiring" (that cracks me up, I'm not making fun, it's adorable) another movie. If you see it first, let me know how it was.

Yin;
You have an noble heart, I like that.
Sometimes you "love the one your with" because you married them.
There are children involved.
Legal matters.
Sometimes "The One You Love" is....
a lunatic.
or with someone else.
Or your families don't get along.
Who knows why sometimes we stay complacent.
But I'm glad to know that there is still a true sag out there rockin the boat.
(Ha! I used a boat metaphor, and you just got back from a cruise! coincidence!)

Thanks, Gypsee, but I'm mostly all noble talk and no noble action... although I wish I could be.

Very hard, for most.

Easier, for some.

Impossible, for many.

Impossible for me.
At least at the moment.
But I always cling to "whats meant to be, will be."
It gives me a modicom of comfort.
