I just started legitimate classes recently. Tried a few times on my own before. It's AMAZING!!

Who does yoga? What are your favorite poses/postures/positions and/or routines?

All things yoga, right here!!!

One of the best decisions I ever made was to take Yoga classes when I was expecting my first child.

As my birth plan was to turn up and get on with it expecting it to come a bit sharp, this lunchtime work class taught me the basics and on the big day the the reflex of Yoga breathing stood me in good stead.

Now those days are gone, I still have quite a temper to keep under control and it helps for that as well.

A little blue heart here because it looks pretty and fits in with the Yoga ethos. I don't feel sorry for myself or anything.

Do you have a favorite pose?

I like my classes a lot so far except for the fact that my instructor always plays a Natasha Bedingfield CD. It's got a really nice vibe, but the lyrics are distracting when I just want to chill.

Fun story-- my first day of classes there was a man next to me, and while I didn't see his face, I did notice that he had very nice legs and was quite flexible. In the dark I guessed him to be about 40 or so and kind of got excited to have some crush material in my yoga class.

Annnnnnnnnyway... an hour later, lights come on and Mr. Hottie has got to be pushing 70!! Props to him, but not the eye candy I was hoping for. He's a nice guy, though, and I still feel a little embarrassed to know that I spent an entire session imagining hitting up a farmers' market or coffee shop after class.

Of course I never would have-- hubby may have had a problem with it, but it's fun to let the imagination roam.

I'm hoping to find more flexibility soon. I didn't realize how tight my muscles had gotten over the years!

Someone I know shocked me when he told me he was 70, he has a washboard stomach. Not too old too put me off in my imagination.

I like the Cobra, I wouldn't like a real one, but you know what I mean!

Cobra does feel good. We don't do anything too tricky in our class, which is good because my flexibility is less than stellar. We did do a thing yesterday where we did a bridge then clasped our hands and pulled our shoulders kind of underneath us. I don't know what it was, but it was pretty nice!

You're close to me in age, aren't you? I was born in '76.

I've got to get back into it.

My favorite pose is The All Members Pose or The Shoulder Stand (with no hands & working into a Lotus Pose while still in that position ooooo tricky. lol )

I also like the Fish Pose w/ legs in lotus & The Locust Pose.

I loved yoga when I did it some years ago!
I'll have to get back into it. Here is a site that I like on yoga:
http://www.yogajournal.com/

My most recent favorite pose is the Child pose:

Did you guys do it on your own or with classes?

My class meets only once a week, but I'd like to get my yoga on more often.

I don't know how to make a routine, though!

I did yoga for a long time, until Pilates came out. Now I alternate between the two.
I hated the yoga class, me and my mom took. It was winter time, and it was in a school gymnasium, on the cold, hard floor. Yucky.
I was given a Jane Fonda yoga tape and I use that at home, on the nice cushy carpet.

I want to be into yoga. Been giving it a go since I was a teenager. I like it from a distance, but we just haven't clicked yet.

I think having Sun cnj Neptune, yoga feels redundant. I need exercise that generates energy, since I'm mellowed to the point of a near coma to begin with.

Mostly with classes here, though not many. And sometimes at home. I'm kind of a natural because I was a gymnast in my younger years. Thought i've lost a lot of flexibility too.

eve,
I hear you there. I like hatha yoga a lot but cant get myself into a routine like I would like to for exactly those reasons. Mars square Uranus perhaps?

And I prefer doing it at home rather than a class.

I did some yoga on the weekend, on the grass. It mostly consisted of me standing on my head with a bit of child's pose, as I don't know what I'm doing. The headstand was fun though, and something in my back went "Crrrraaaack", which felt great. My bloke's ex is a yoga teacher so he does it all the time as he learned from her. It does him so much good, so I am determined to have a go. I went to a class once but the old man next to me kept farting and I kept losing it laughing, so that was a waste of time.

I'm signing up for the "Get Back Into It" class. When do we start? Haven't done it since moving to a new house a few months ago.

I like this site: http://www.bharatthakur.com/MumbaiMirror.html

Anyone heard of The Five Tibetan Rites? It (just five exercises) is said to "stimulate and rejuvinate the entire psycho-physio network and rumoured to be the source of the fountain of youth". This is my next to-do thing (after I finish reading the book).

Wheels, I don't think I'd be big enough to handle such a thing.

Question: if I do anything on my head, I get terribly dizzy. I can do handstands with no problem, but a headstand would do a number on me. Is it normal or is it a tumor?! Heehee

I love yoga, been doing on and off since I was 13. I've only done it at home, but when I get some money I'm going to try some classes. I do Vinyasa/Power yoga, and eventually would like to try Ashtanga. I prefer this to the slow Hatha/Iyengar that I used to do.

I think I will, too, though I now think I should take it as a class. It's kind of sad: I just looked up the classes offered by the community in both my city as well as the city I have my improv class in. Improv-city class is cheaper even as a non-resident.
