Two of our Libra's passions have collided into a single movie: GAMER

Spanky Butler's man with one of Xodian's passions:

“Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player (Gerard Butler) from a game called ‘Slayers’ looks to regain his independence while taking down the game’s mastermind (Hall)”

The movie Gamer redefines what game immersion means: in the future virtual and reality are intricately mixed: in the future you don’t live to play, you play to live!

Along Gerard Butler in the lead role, the cast of movie gamer can also boast: Logan Lerman, Milo Ventimiglia, Aaron Yoo, Ludacris, Alison Lohman and John Leguizamo.

The release date of Gamer is set for September 4th, 2009.

Be good to see Butler in something other than Phantom. Called Logan? Anything like Logans Run?

John Leguizamo is actor I like seeing in films. Might be worth a watch.

Looking forward to this, though I am not expecting a breakthrough after being horribly let down by the likes of Terminator: Salvation, Death Race, Etc.

As a gamer though, the subject of violence and the "glorification" of violence does pops up for a debate from time to time so it will be intereting to see a movie that tries to put a living twist on pixal on pixal violence Lol!

What's cool is the fact that non-gamers might get an idea of how competitive gamers can get!

I would describe myself as a non-gamer. other than a brief two weeks in 2002 when my boyfriend and I discovered Grand Theft Auto Vice City and we both basically wished for adult nappies, as things like going to the bog, eating, washing, work... were just so... unimportant.

I am now very scared of games. I felt the power.

In terms of the future networking games are the future of were the gaming industry will be.

Cell phone games where believed to be the future in 2003, but its starting to get saturated.

The only problem is the North American network infrastructure(Internet, Cell Phone network, etc) is way behind say countries like India because there population demands a good network.

I saw it tonight. It had moments of brilliance. The guy that plays Dexter was a main character in it as well, and he was outstanding.

I swear this movie demonstrates the very reason why I never ever want to touch let alone play an MMORPG style game. I don't care what it is or what the genre might be; It always ends up with the same problem:

- Girls are usually dudes.
- Dudes are usually molestors in the making.

I enjoyed the movie. And yes I agree... Mr. Dexter (Oops! I should say Michael C Hall Lol!) was amazing.

The Jazz dance scene was disturbingly hilarious!

That was one of my favorite parts, too, and that was an awesome room it took place in.

For those who obviously had a chance to watch the movie, did anyone find the guerilla style camerawork of this movie a tad bit cliche? Especially since more and more movies are trying it out with all their action scenes (Terminator Salvation, Cloverfield, War of the Worlds, etc.) It worked amazingly well for the action sequences but IMO it should have been incorporated in the other scenes.

Thank you X-man.

This was a most unfortunate typo. On the other hand, did you not think it was strange that I would send a cyborg over to your house to do such strange things? Am I seriously THAT weird?

Nice to see you, Spanky!

X,

I don't mind guerilla-style camera work in general, but I agree that in this movie the action was too fast, so you couldn't catch everything.
