i do not want to create controversy but since censorship and despotism have prevented me from expressing my opinion, i decided to start a new thread, again,
only to be able to express my opinion. which is my right as far as i've not been banned. i've got essentially 2 points to express; the first, and you probably understood it already, i think xodian decision to close valus thread is ridiculous; it is pure power trip; i cannot explain otherwise his stupid decision to close a thread which was a source of teaching, with all its imperfections, precisely making it rich this way; although i understand libra need for pleasant things and empathy for both sides of the controversy, im a libra moon after all; my initial reaction to valus first post was to find it unfair to attack someone absent in a public forum, and also because i feel for DfD, partly because im imbalanced myself, partly because im born 4 days before her and can see where she's coming from; but i think wodian attitude is over the top, a ridiculous power trip; it's a shame to have despotically chosen to close a thread, an opportunity to learn about human imperfections, human reactions, well, about humans in general. That's my first point.
my second, and to me the essential one, I wanted to congratulate valus for his eloquence, wisdom and compassion which he expressed in his last post; your words can sometimes be very powerful, i would like to honour you with a better congratulation but i put my heart in saying "thank you to share your wisdom and heart with us"

This has nothing to do with what happened on the thread, but want to touch on another point.
When mods do nothing, everyone says they dont do enough, when they do anything, theyre on "power" trips. I think most of the mods here arent "power trip" types.(actually cant think of any mod like that) I think Xodian was very fair in the fact he left the thread open as long as he did, considering the fact the thread was inappropriate as it is. Xodian IMO is a good mod, and think its unfair to judge his actions. I think he made a wise decision and handled the situation with class.

I have no issue with Xodian for closing the thread, although I suppose he could have just deleted one or two of my posts, if they were in violation of LL rules. But then, LL rules have become so subjective. The contract we all signed has probably been violated countless times by every one of us, and its not always clear which rules are meant to be taken strictly. Certainly, personal attacks are questionable, even when done in defense of oneself, one's friends, and the LL community. I realized I was stretching the rules and I cannot very well object when the rules are enforced. I took that chance, and I'm willing to accept the moderator's call.

Having said that, I want to thank you, pire.

You're a good man with a good heart, pire. My european friends are always telling me how much happier I would be in europe, and I think they must be right. Your appreciation for my voice warms my heart like the soft hand of a mother, a grandmother, or an old friend. I know not everyone sees me as you do, but I like the way you see me. God's love to you, brother.

Pire, I share your sentiments regarding Valus' words.

Valus' threads and the responses they
provoke are invaluable to my personal and
spiritual growth and his words alone
inspire me to look in places where I'm
usually too afraid or too lazy to look.
Mostly those are places I am not even aware of.
I am grateful he is here.
I am grateful to be a part of this community.
You guys rock!

So true!!

pire ~

Of *course* it was a judgment call on Xodian's part, but I probably wouldn't go so far as to call it "despotic"
There have been threads here at LL that I found extremely offensive and in "violation" of the "rules" that were never closed.

my initial reaction to valus first post was to find it unfair to attack someone absent in a public forum
I think your initial reaction was a good one, but I applaud and commend your Libran predilection to try to understand the other side and walk a mile in the other’s shoes

Valus ~

Things leak in and things leak out, and the veil between the public and private is thin.
Indeed it is, and I also think it’s constantly in motion due to the zeitgeist. We have nothing but our personal tastes, and personal ethics/values to base our decisions on. I didn’t like you bringing this to LL, but I understand your perceived need to express it here and perhaps be a sort of Paul Revere; and for all our disagreements, I think your motives are generally pure, and true to yourself. Nonetheless, I didn’t see DfD appear to speak her piece (and I suspect I would have collapsed from old age before I finished reading it if she had ) so I support Xod in his decision to close the thread.
People did this when lotus was banned, and I deem it wise to prevent/discourage this type of jumping on a form of bandwagon, giving people the opportunity of feeling free to express their negativity towards someone without hesitation, without consequences (and without a response from the absent party) – as lotus so eloquently proclaimed about the gang mentality…..
Not that I saw any “gang mentality” in your thread – I found the reponses quite mature and compassionate for the most part (excluding my own post, where I was trying to lighten things up ).

*Yells* Guards! Off with Pire's head!

Now THAT'S what I call a power trip .

Pire, be that your interpertation of the thread as it may, the thread in question was violating the forum T&C on personal attacks. Like most of the people have already pointed out, its simple "confrontational" threads like these that end up turning into full fledged flame wars; Most obvious noted event of such case as Zala pointed out was the one involving the member Lotus.

Saying that such little threads are reflection of human impulsions is not an excuse. We have set rules to which people need to abide by and they are here for a reason. Mistakes can be forgiven if the person admits responsibility and moves on, but repeating them only indicates that either one did not learn anything from the original incident or just plain refuses to.

If you have any questions or complaints about my actions as a moderator, feel free to either e-mail me, any of the other mods, or Randall himself about it. Acting out of impulsion like this is unwarrented for IMO.

I'll give this thread the same lee-way only I'll extend the lifespan to 48 hours. Please say your peace everyone and then its goodbye thread.

Yin, you're gonna
give me a heart-attack now,
my heart is swelling up
with so much love and pride.
You are too kind for words.
Thank you endlessly.

Sometimes I wish
I were more Neptunian
than Uranian.

But I am Uranian,
-- Promethean,
all the way.

Love you much.
