damn the weather changes! i have this extremely annoying cough that produces no phelgm or anything, but literally brings me to my knees until i'm retching. and still, nothing comes out!

i've been to the doctors, and was given antibiotics which didn't do anything.

i have no idea what to do, and sleeping is like torture now. i'm lucky to even get an hour's rest.

help me, please.

sounds like allergies. Drink lots of hot tea with honey, and squeeze lemon in it if you have some. Also lots of hot, I mean as hot as you can stand it, chicken soup, or just broth, whatever your diet allows.

Sleep with a vaporizer to let moisture seep into your lungs while your asleep. Keep away from things that dry you out, excessive heat, air conditioning, alchohol.

Stand in steam, like in the bathroom, or heat a pan of steamy water, place your head over the pan and a towel over your head. Breathe that in.

Stay hydrated!!

mannequin - lavender essential oil is a great expectorant. try buying a little bottle, it's not very expensive, and taking a sniff (as in smelling salts) in each nostril. or rubbing some on your chest where you will be able to smell it, like vick's but a little less annoying!

and it's true it could be allergies...

if there is chlorine in your tap water a lot of steam might have the opposite of the desired effect, as chlorine is more and more implicated in allergies and asthma...but distilled water with some sea salt in it is another matter altogether. you can get filters for your shower that take chlorine out of it...

are you getting enough water in? not fluids, but water.

people are often dehydrated and dont realize it. water is the best expectorant. drink at least 8 ounces and you might need some healthy salt in your diet. table salt isnt good, if you can find some sea salt or himalayan crystal salt, that might help too. if you take a calcium, mag, potassium supplement, that might help your body absorb the water too.

Hope you feel better soon!

TCM will say that you have heat in your lung meridian.
I often got the same problem but i learned how to solve it before it got worse. Consume a lot of water chestnut.
Some Chinese consume them raw but since they grows in mud, it wouldn't hurt to boil them for a minute or two. It always works for me.

i'm all better now, thanks guys.

PeaceAngel, yes i am! but very very mild ashtma, not serious at all. guess it's just these weather changes.
