Caught this on yahoo and figured I'd share. Pretty interesting stuff. ****** World's Strangest Monuments From a 25-foot shark crashing through a roof to Mongolia’s giant statue of Genghis Khan, the world’s weirdest monuments display local quirks. http://travel.yahoo.com/p-interests-29995119;_ylc=X3oDMTFzbWcyNmZwBF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEX3MDMjcxOTQ4MQRzZWMDZnAtdG9kYXltb2QEc2xrA21vbnVtZW50cy0xMC0xMS0wOQ-- IP: Logged |

I checked this site out yesterday and couldn't see the photo....but revisited today and spotted it!Very majestic indeed. And an interesting comment about Communism banning G Khan's image. I think true Communism is one of embracement, service and understanding, eg, the ancient Samoan culture's survival on little islands in the middle of a huge ocean. To ignore one's history/herstory/countries evolution is to run against the grain of deep ancestral memories. Embracing lineage memories can build a dignity that enhances a culture's bond, whether those memories are tragic or triumphant. Lessons are learned in all situations. Maybe the people of Mongol have finally embraced the idea that by honouring a part of its history it can evolve its......economy - which is yet another survival strategy of the modern human family. All IMO, of course! IP: Logged |
