This is a thread about messing up song lyrics and singing them loudly.

So My Mother was singing along to the jukebox in a restaurant we were at, like a year ago (have no clue why I'm thinking of it now) anyway, 'Drift Away', by Dobie Grey was playing.

Everybody knows that song right?

.....give me the beat boys, and free my soul, I wanna get lost in your rock and roll, and drift away...

So MY Mother sings, loudly, mind you,

"give me the BEACH BOYS and free my soul.." oh, hahaha, I laughed so hard! She hasn't lived it down, now the grandkids call her and serenade her with that little ditty.

So what songs have you mangled, or been witness to being mangled???

When I was growing up I always thought Pat Benatar was singing:

"Love is a Ferris Wheel" instead of "Love is a battlefield"

and although I thought it was a slightly strange lyric to come up with, I also thought it was pretty deep of her, because it CAN be like a ferris wheel going round and round (sort of like an emotional rollercoaster) not to mention ferris wheels are romantic rides to go on with your sweetie. I thought: "Right on, Pat!" (even though I hadnt ever had a romantic relationship yet, I seemed to know what she was talking about and could dig it) Whenever I heard this song I has visions of an amusement park that I used to go to as a kid and two lovers holding hands on the ferris wheel.

also:

Panama by Van Halen. As a kid thought they were saying "Animal" instead of "Panama" and that's how I sang it. lol

And what do you do when you don't know the words to a song that your singing in front of someone? Hum? I just sort of cough during that part.

Did anyone know anything that Curt Cobain and Eddie Vedder were singing in the 90's?

I mean seriously, I had to look that stuff up. (:

I used to think that ACE of Base song "I saw the Sign" was "I saw the SUN"

lol

My favorite Nirvana song for years was "Lounge Act" and I used to think, when Kurt sings, "I'll keep fighting jealousy, Until it's f-cking gone" that he was singing, "I'll keep writing jealously; Jealous of f-cking God,". And in the Doors song, "People Are Strange", where he sings, "Streets are uneven when you're down," I thought it was, "Streets are run even when you're down." I think my lyrics are improvements.

Well for years my sister and I sang to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

"Spare him his life from this one sausagery"

And I had the embarrassing moment of someone saying to me when I was well in my 30's
"What did you just sing?
And I said full of confidence that very line
