Today I saw someone start a word game, you pick the book NEAREST to you right now, (no cheating by picking a cooler book farther away) and look on page 23, line 5, then post that. See if it has any specific meaning to you, or maybe someone elses will speak to you.....K....lemme see what I got..

Alright, I had to stretch my arms out to measure the distance as not to cheat, and 'GOOBERZ' really is the closest. That would make sense since it lives on my night stand...

"for a negro couple named Bob and Grace"

hmmmm, I know what it is referring to, but if I didn't, I don't know what I could make of that.

A couple? = Love
Grace = a lovely state of being. I don't know. You try??

I've done this before, but I'm game. This should be interesting.

The New Astrologer by Martin Seymour-Smith (haven't read it):

"These three movements overlapped in almost all Renaissance writing and thinking."

Means nothing to me.

It was a tie

"Cut the hard parts into small pieces and measure two tablespoons of fresh herb per cup."

Bullfinch's is my favorite
I have an old hardcover with beautiful drawings and plates in it
The "family tree" illustrations of the gods and goddesses always fascinated me when I was younger.
God forgive me, but I wrote in that book - so I had both Roman and Greek names of the gods.....

Zala~ My copy is old too, though I don't think the library of congress will be asking me for a loan

Gypsee: the Vulture as Totem is something that I had visited a waze back, but on this Google search the top link was most excellent.

in short it offered much research and stories that showed the relationship to Pueblo tribes, the Egyptian goddess Matts with her wings of the vulture etcetera.

Pyramus and Thisbe = a romeo and Juliette tale..adding in paste from wiki below:

In the Ovidian version, Pyramus and Thisbe is the story of two lovers in the city of Babylon who occupy connected houses, forbidden by their parents to be wed, because of their parents' rivalry. Through a crack in one of the walls, they whisper their love for each other. They arrange to meet near at Ninus' tomb under a mulberry tree and state their feelings for each other. Thisbe arrives first, but upon seeing a lioness with a mouth bloody from a recent kill, she flees, leaving behind her veil. The lioness drinks from a nearby fountain, then by chance mutilates the veil Thisbe had left behind. When Pyramus arrives, he is horrified at the sight of Thisbe's veil, assuming that a fierce beast had killed her. Pyramus kills himself, violently thrusting a sword into his groin, and in turn splashing blood on the white mulberry leaves. Pyramus' blood stains the white mulberry fruits, turning them dark. Thisbe returns, eager to tell Pyramus what had happened to her, but she finds Pyramus' dead body under the shade of the mulberry tree. Thisbe, after a brief period of mourning, stabs herself with the same sword. In the end, the gods listen to Thisbe's lament, and forever change the color of the mulberry fruits into the stained color to honor the forbidden love.

Then I looked at asteroids 14871 Pyramus and 88 Thisbe.

14871 is 28 Cancer-- and the sabian mirrors the vulture culture

PHASE 118 (CANCER 28°): AN INDIAN GIRL INTRODUCES HER WHITE LOVER TO HER ASSEMBLED TRIBE.

Since boredom is a feature, I wont bore with rest..smile

something to this anyhow;

Gypsee here is the totem link; is it similar to yours? http://sped2work.tripod.com/totem.html

*edit- 88 Thisbe is Virgo 16

PHASE 166 (VIRGO 16°): IN THE ZOO, CHILDREN ARE BROUGHT FACE TO FACE WITH AN ORANG-UTANG.

"A direct confrontation with the "wild" power of primordial nature within oneself"

Node;

I was going to look it up in the book that came with my Medicine Cards, I just did, and they don't have Vulture.

I used to have a great signed book by Ted Andrews, the name is escaping me, 'Animal Speak' maybe, possibly? Anyway, I loved that book. It has everything, unfortunately, it got ruined when our house had a flood. However..

From 'The Secret Language of Signs' by Denise Linn...

*Vultures feed almost exclusively on carrion. They perform a very useful function, in that they are eliminating potential sources of disease, although this often causes people to think they are unclean birds. However, they are very clean. In Egyptian hieroglyphs, the vulture was depicted along with mother symbols, which, according to Jung, was because Mother Earth contains both death and life. The Parsi placed their dead where the vultures could consume them, believing that this would allow them a rebirth.

*Is there a potential problem that you are being asked to clean up? Are you always putting yourself in positions where you are asked to clean up messy situations? Look within to discover if there is an underlying pattern that is drawing these situations to you.

*Do you feel a need to clean away something that you may consider complete or dead?

*Is there someone in your life who seems vulturelike? Do you feel there is a competitor waiting for you to make an error or someone who has ill feelings toward you?

--------------------------------------------

I really like Denise Linn's books, she writes very straight forward. ( :

This is cool:
Orson Scott Card: Xenocide

"He would endure her ministrations because it wasn't "

Mmmmm .... meaning: I've been passing the time posting useless logic stuff on another thread, which were like ministrations cos I felt sympathy for boredom, and maybe some male person will read my ministrations and endure them cos they weren't ... because they were all ... like ... meaningless ...

Gosh, this is freakily accurate!
