An increase of broken bones by 75%!!!Wow, take it easy when you are walking on icy footpaths. The coldest winter in 3 decades is coinciding with 40 degree plus in Australia (104F). IP: Logged |

My ma's friend broke her elbow. I nearly went Arsenal over Tottenham a couple of times but so far, so good. Just wondering...does this mean we get a proper summer this year? It has been so long. IP: Logged |

Each surface has its unique danger. One woman was wearing shoes with a suitable tread for the snow, but broke her ankle when crossing an icy road.My suggestion bluemoon, is to walk with a cushion tied to your bottom. Overcome vanity for safety, that's what I say

We had a warm winter, and this seems to be a more humid summer. I wouldn't bet on a proper summer by that benchmark. But who knows what Mother Nature has in store? She's a mysterious one. I just hope people can keep safe outdoors. The hazards seem great at the moment. IP: Logged |

yikes..When I was extremely pregnant I remember crossing an icy street and fell on my a$$ twice. It's amazing how people will just stand there and stare instead of helping someone...especially as very pregnant as I was. I know if I had watched someone pregnant fall the first time, I'd have been there in an instant to help... IP: Logged |

WinkAway - It makes such a difference if someone says "Are you ok?"One news channel in the UK filmed people slipping over on an icy patch. Each person hurt themselves, but they kept filming to get the footage!! IP: Logged |

It must be hard, LEXX, when winter comes and is a reminder of that time. What a shocking thing to experience. That is my nightmare - to lose someone in a tragic accident.I'm thinking that Winter in the Northern Hemisphere is tougher than in the Southern Hemisphere. In fact, what would Southerners really know about snow and ice? It just looks so dangerous on tv, and there are many tragic stories that come out of winter. What a sad, sad thing to go through.... koiflower Thank you for your kind words. It has been years, in fact on January 13th. it will be 23 years ago. She slipped and was hit by a van driven by an idiot who did not see her because he had only a small part of his iced wind shield scraped off. She got caught up on his exhaust and dragged 200 feet. She did not lose consciousness, but was instantly paralyzed from neck down and died 4 hours later whilst on the life flight helicopter. Yes, even after so long, it still hurts, especially with the anniversary date of it in a few days to remind me.IP: Logged |
