Ozzy Osbourne said he is “living on borrowed time,” after spending years indulging in drugs and promiscuous sex. Osbourne, 61, is releasing his book “I am Ozzy” this week in the United States. His autobiography outlines his life of drugs, sex, and alcohol. He also spoke with Gelu Sulugiuc in an interview, talking about his days with Black Sabbath, a heavy metal band with hits such as “Paranoid” and “Iron Man”.
During his time with Black Sabbath, Osbourne began to experiment with drugs and alcohol, which he said led him to infidelity and neglectful parenting, among other problems.
“Drugs and alcohol were fun but there is also a very bad side about it. I don’t do it anymore,” Osbourne told Sulugiuc.
Osbourne said that he was self-medicating himself and that he suffered from both ADD and dyslexia.
Ozzy was born as John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England. He said that his dyslexia was undiagnosed in school. Later after taking factory jobs and even as a “career burglar”, he joined the band and eventually found fame with the group.
In his book, Osbourne said he was too young to get married at 20 and have two children by 25, but his parents never said that doing so was not such a great idea. Today, Osbourne says, “What I do with my children, which I wish my parents had done with me, is talk to them. If they ever ask me questions I give them an honest answer.”
Osbourne’s book is written with Chris Ayres and concentrates mostly on his drug and alcohol usage in the past, his family (which had their own reality show on MTV from 2002-2005) and the time he spent with Black Sabbath. http://www.examiner.com/x-27102-Culture--Events-Examiner~y2010m1d28-Ozzy-Osbourne-autobiography-reveals-that-he-is-living-on-borrowed-time
