now i have already mentioned this on another thread. i have recently been experiencing some weirdness on LL...it seems ONLY on my daughter's laptop but it is ALSO ONLY ON LL...some random words being highlighted in colour and underlined (creating links from normal posts). i did click on one and immediately closed it when an ad popped up. i will NOT TOUCH them again!however i also am getting an audio "welcome please take our survey" announcement when i come here and then a window pops up with a survey regarding LL...which i also close immediately. so i'm wondering a) has anyone else noticed this or is it just on my computer? b) anyone know if it is worth worrying about? tho i did click once, i have seen no further evidence that anything has invaded the computer... for instance the word laptop above is green and underlined. that's strange.. I haven't had that happen.I had something where I wasn't able to access LL for a few months on my home puter. Then when I switched puters, I was able to log on. It's probably something with your puter. I don't know much about them, but sounds like you might have a virus....? IP: Logged |

It isn't LL. I think it's some software that may be infecting your computer. Website owners can opt for a service like that in order to make some money, but it makes their site really annoying. Um, is this one of those computer deals, like where she gets the computer for free, or for low payments? If so, it may have come pre-installed as the seller's way of making money. IP: Logged |

it is the vundo virus i think. browser hijack?go to yahoo and type something in the search engine and see if it redirects your browser. i think it is a vundo virus which is a browser hijacker. microsoft security essentials removes it. it will make your other virius software not woork, so go to the microsoft site and download security essentials and run it. that should work. the site survey thing makes me think that. i have battled this one before and microsoft security essentials was the only answer. I don't think the universe wants you to stay away Kat!Anyway, my daughters computer has the same problem, only random words are underlined in blue. I never clicked on them though, like I said, I thought she had some sort of spell check or something on. But, my daughter is 11, and she goes to all kinds of sites, and downloads tons of ringtones and all that stuff. I think it's a virus. Then, right after that happened, (when we were talking about this the other day) her charger went out. Just completely died. Her computer was still under warranty, so Dell sent us a new one. I haven't got on there and checked it since then. IP: Logged |

it's free. its on the microsoft site. some survey popped up and my hunny took the survey thinking it was real and it was vundo virus. on the laptop a few months ago. it disabled the mcafee and norton and spybot. it redirected my browser too. nothing got rid of it, i was going to scrap it out and the microsoft security essentials got it.i think it is pretty good. i rely on it now. If you are running a Windows Operating System on your computer, note that Microsoft puts out updates every Tue eve. so you can (should really!) download and install them on Wed. Do the express install with essentials only. Never, ever run your Windows PC without an antivirus. AVG, avast!, Panda Cloud are all fine, free antivirus programs.IP: Logged |

Yikes Kat. I had 2 rounds of the trojan antispyware called FAKEAV. It infiltrates and locks your antivirus and all virus/maleware scanning capabilities. Trend Micro says it is one of the newest & potentially dangerous malwares. ( it infects ipad as well} http://www.trendmicroupdate.com/11153/issue19/spotlight.htm I use avg free and Trend Micro`s HouseCall free online scanner and it blocked both of them. The only way I got rid of it was with malwarebytes download. malewarebytes.org. Node had some good info and she warned me of the loaded search engines before Trend Micro did! http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/000863.html good luck!!!! ------------------ What we do for ourselves dies with us. thanks guys. AVG is obviously not up to the task, whatever it is seems to have stopped the scheduled scans but AVG is telling me we're protected. will try the MS program!for the record although the "links" are still there the survey invite has ceased and i still am not seeing any other effects. maybe ignoring it will make it go away? Did you try malwarebytes.org? It sounds like a virus unless you downloaded plugins/ add-ons to your browser. Try a different antivirus as well.

still haven't really identified the problem. the underlines are still there and i don't see them anywhere but lindaland again...there is also a voice that invites me to take a survey sometimes but not always!!however it does seem to have settled down. we removed limewire from the computer and i am hoping continued avoidance will eventually allow it to fade away. excuse me my illiterate approach but machines and i have a special understanding... thanks for all the input, all of you!! kat, what browser are you using? There was this SnapShot add-on in Firefox that used to do the same thing on my computer so I took it off. I am really curious what may be causing this. Actually it could be so many things... I wonder what other downloaded software you have on that machine. IP: Logged |

its not my machine but i think everything dicey has been removed. i don't download on here at all...and i go to the library to play games! but limewire was present when her last machine got devoured by something so i am hoping its removal will help the general health situation!so far it is much less intrusive than before and i am leaving it to her to deal with!
