Yin I saw your question in the moderator nomination thread with regards to where are the other two mods for this forum. I have been here, maybe I haven’t replied to threads but I have been here on a regular basis reading through threads.

This past year I have been recovering from an accident and recently (a month ago) discovered that I have a growth the size of a golf ball (mucosal polyp) in my sinus. Many months was spent in hospital and going for physio therapy. I didn’t wish to share to details of all that as my state of mind was that I didn’t want sympathy or pity from any one. The worst is over now so I only have to deal with the growth which I’m on medications for.

Other than that I have been here and reading more than replying. Sorry if it seems that I have neglected my duties.

My apologies to all.

charmainec,

Thank you for speaking up.

I am sorry to hear about your health issues. Of course they override whatever duties you may have here.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

I guess it's not my call as to how this forum is to be run, but if anyone asked me, I would like to see some response to my call to close my thread when I ask for it or else be allowed to close it myself.

Things here can get out of hand pretty quickly. It will be nice to have a mod that can respond as soon as possible.

I am referring to the fighting, yes.
I actually liked Xodian's approach (despite everything) to give the thread 24 hours before it gets locked so everyone involved can say their peace and move on.
As a big fan of self-moderation, I would prefer to see conflicts resolved by the parties involved but this is an online forum, not a face-to-face discussion.

As HD said elsewhere: The issues get dragged on for days and it's very easy to open up old wounds and poor more salt on them. Often people don't have time to read all the thread's pages nor do they realize that a particular thread is a response to another thread etc. etc.

This format has its limitations. We all know that but it's not the first thing that comes to mind when somebody gets upset and says something regrettable.

There are a lot of sensitive souls around here and it's painful to watch them get caught up in all sorts of miscommunication.
One could say: Don't participate if it gets too hot and you can't handle it but isn't this what it is all about? Learning how to speak about your wounds in hope for finding a relief for them?

Yes,getting past the hurt and pain is to work it out but not in an insulting manner.I agree with Xodians approach to it.Can't have fights continuing for days on end as it can be emotionally draining.Thank you for your input and thoughts on the matter Yin.This gives more insight as to how improvements can be made.

Yin - I agree also.

I was about to do something unusual and post to disagree with you! I didn't agree that your Denim post should have been closed when it got out of hand, as some people deserved the opportunity to respond to things they found personally offensive.

I was, however, quite shocked to return after 5 days and find that everyone was still fighting. So I think the 24 hour rule might have some merit. I suspect the fight would just move to another thread, but worth a try.

You seem to be a fair and balance individual. I can understand that to see someone you deeply care about being attacked provokes a natural protective instinct in you. However, it might we wise to leave him to fight his own battles? Nobody else here has that back-up cavalry and from an 'outsiders' perspective I think that sometimes your support only provides an additional fan to the flames. You seem such a gentle soul, it irks me to see you getting caught up in these battles.

I never really saw any fights in Godzala threads. Everyone was focussed on fun and laughter and helping each other out from a tough day at work.

Glad you are recovering.
Will they do surgery on the sinus?
Can you breathe OK?

My nasal septum (a bone) is buckled on the right side which could have been caused by a blow I took to the head in the accident. My breathing is fine.We will know by the end of this month whether the growth went down when I go for another CT scan.Hopefully the meds I've been taking for the past month has helped.
The doctor did mention that they might straighten the buckled bone...not looking forward to that.

Thanks Lexx
