I have noticed my sig line and many other posts are glitchy today, displaying strange character sets and odd icons and posting troubles too.
I just got word that a few others have noticed this too.
Who else has noticed this today?

It is also affecting posts from years ago.

And what is going on...threads seem to be also mysteriously disappearing from different forums.

Seemed to be mostly sensitive ones.
But then again I was looking for mostly such.
And then noticed that some nice threads to me seem to be gone too.
Not only at this forum either.

Kat, I wanted to tell you but didn`t want to go back to the thread so here I reply

I read our warning aggressive virus thread and remembered reading about it in my Trend Micro report. I closed the thread and started to go to GU and that very box popped up. Something to the effect: there`s an error in XP , let windows fix it for you ( paraphrased). Gulp, that seemed too weird. Could there be a bug in LLC?
I know Randall said a PC infected can`t infect LL but it was just too wierd ey?!

Never let unsolicited pop ups "fix" anything!
Some look official but are not!
And only use virus scans you know are for real!

I think I fixed it. Let me know of any future problems. Not sure about Lexx's sig.

hi juni, yes that sounds like the one. it pretends to be your own protection...i have windows xp and it put on a windows-y pattern with a different shape tho, and called itself xp internet security...according to the tech a programmer friend works with it's the latest thing in viruses and it was a little bugger to get rid of but my own tech-buddy gets massages for helping me and he stuck with it...actually as much to learn from it as anything...glad my warning rang a bell for you!!

i actually fell for a similar one a couple of years ago and crashed my computer because i was completely ignorant...and that is why i didn't mess with this one...even so it managed to take hold, so look out it may not be really gone. you might try looking in your programs for any bogus masquerading "security" programs...

how DO these things glom onto you, does anyone know?
