Last month, I found 2 pigeon eggs on my balcony and I didn't have the heart to destroy the nest or the eggs. The landlord said to let the eggs hatch and the babies get old enough to fly away. I did that.

The eggs hatched on the May 28th weekend and we came back from our trip to 2 little yellow fuzzy babies. A week went by and last weekend I noticed the parent bird was not around and was worries that the babies were abandoned. I called the wildlife rescue and they said to leave a little bit of bird seed out for the baby pigeons.

After I got off the phone, The parent bird was back. I thought everything was fine but I saw less and less of the parent bird. I checked them this morning and they were fine but when I looked out on my balcony this afternoon - they were dead. Some other bird came in for the kill - I saw lifeless little birdies lying on the ground.

I have cried now for 90 minutes cause this is heart breaking for me to see. It is ironic how I wished the eggs life and the babies are now dead......emotionally i find it is a senseless baby bird killing by other birds....but my Spock mind tells me that this is how life goes at times.,...nature taking it's course.....it's ugly.

Thank you.

They came and cleaned the balcony the next day and then the day after that I bought some planter soil and a whole bunch of planets and now I have my balcony back.....

I planted 4 different kinds of tomatos, 2 types of lettuce, eggplant, broccoli, celery, sweet basil and rosemary.....Now I am waiting to get flowers like sweet peas to put on my balcony....

My boyfriend wanted plants that he could enjoy the fruits of in the fall........
