Hi,

Can someone explain to me how to link text by putting words there?

Example: Say I am linking to something, but instead of a url to click, I put words there, like say a link to "Aquarius." You can click on the word "aquarius" and not a url. I hope I am explaining this right. I've seen people do it before.

Thanks.

There are two http:// things in there, and something else before the link. You also have a closing parenthesis in there.

I wrote it exactly the way it was presented. Don't know why there was two addresses though.

You can now have true hyperlinks using the [url] code. Just use the following format:

[URL=http://www.ultimatebb.com ] UltimateBB.com [ /URL]

(without the spaces)

In the examples above, the UBB Code automatically generates a hyperlink to the URL that is encased. It will also ensure that the link is opened in a new window when the user clicks on it. Note that the "http://" part of the URL is completely optional. In the second example above, the URL will hyperlink the text to whatever URL you provide after the equal sign. Also note that you should NOT use quotation marks inside the URL tag.

I did it. I thought I needed the () in there.

I need to know how to do it for non forum stuff though, like links in email and non-forum sites, html I guess. Is it different for that?

Thank you for your help.

Using HTML tags would be different - yes.

<a href="http://www.linda-goodman.com">Linda Goodman</a> f.e. is a link in HTML to this site.

However, you need to check with each forum to see what they use.

I'm not looking to use it on a forum at all.

I got that html code above and it won't work for me. Am I not supposed to use the ""? I did try it, with and without, with no success. I don't know why it's not working for me. I did something wrong, but I have no idea what.

I just copied and pasted yours into my email and that didn't work either. Does it not work in email?

Never mind, I figured it out for email. It's so annoying how it just isn't the same for everything.
