Let's talk about Bob Ross!I loved to watch that guy paint. I could never get my paintings to look like his though, no matter how often I tried. He made it look SO easy too! IP: Logged |

LOL.. Yeah, I remember him! I would sit on a sunday afternoon staring blankly at the tele..maybe even drooling a bit... watching him paint and talking about the fluffy little bunnies and what not... you knew it was boring as all hell but at the same time....you had to watch...

MOZZARELLA (yes, I know I have a fixation on food, but it's all Winky's fault, she started me off)

I love Bob Ross. I started to watch him when we moved back over here, almost twenty years ago. (*gulp*) My first oil painting lessons through a correspondence course, were based on his technique and another foreign man's. Bob's voice used to send me to sleep. I'd be happily relaxed for a little while, watching him paint... only to find myself waking up as the credits rolled. I managed to copy a desert scene of his for my dad, onto some slate that I'd first covered in gesso. Unfortunately, dad threw it out about seven years ago, because a large chunk had fallen off the corner. (The picture itself hadn't been affected though, so I was upset about that, at the time.) It was one of my best. I liked Helen Van Wyck, as well (with her portraits). IP: Logged |

I don't want to put a damper on the thread but Bob Ross helped me after my mother died (in 2000) For about 9 months after I just couldn't sleep and I would often wake at about 3 a.m and go downstairs and put the T.V on and there was Bob....with his soothing voice and his titanium white...occasionally cobalt blue...and his habit of adding a little tree...whereupon I would shriek "No Bob! The painting is fine , it didn't need another little tree...oh Jesus Bob, you've gone a bit overboard with the titanium white...what the f?...oh no hang on...no...wait up?....no?...actually that looks o.k....hell Bob you were right, that looks brilliant...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz Never managed to stay awake through a whole episode. Not out of boredom, but because he put the whole world right again... IP: Logged |
