months ago i mentioned in a debate with jwhop a young woman who was threatened by a debt collector that he would have her charged with terrorism for talking back to him...fortunately for her she knew he was talking out of his backside! he was far from unusual...so don't be fooled:

Debt collectors are the worst.
I worked in a collections dept once and heard horror stories.
They assume the consumer doesn't know what they are talking about or what their rights are and can talk to them however they want...

my sister was a debt collector for years. she HELPED people work out how to pay their debts and stuck to the law and guidelines, never once threatening anyone or making their life a misery. there are all sorts as elsewhere in life! just be warned YOU HAVE RIGHTS.

labors of love is NOT about money per se. the zodiac bumper stickers is a HUMOUR thread even if it mentions the signs.

once again even if your thread is moved the original stays here for people to notice and find their way there.

THIS thread is about current affairs, not how to make money from doing what you love or other spiritual methods.

oh and by the way, valus, re your thread about burying threads? the best way is NOT TO SHOW UP ON THEM. but i don't expect you to get that.

YOU are biassed and i might add doing exactly what you accuse others of doing. appearing on a thread just to be a pain in the arse. as i suggested in my "how to bury threads" remark, i have visited yours out of interest, only to be called whatever you think cutting enough.

Back to what matters in this thread, which is the topic... It's good that you posted this Kat because collectors do get abusive with people who don't know their rights. Some of the stories I've seen on the news are just crazy. But that claim to charge for terrorism might be a cake-topper. The FTC does have regulations on debt-collecting here if anyone is interested, needs the info, or knows someone who does: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

ANYWAY...

I watched a special on TV about how collectors were getting in trouble for their methods.
One was something to do with a family who were threatened jail time from a collector. I'll have to see if I can find a link to their story. But it turned out it was the same company my car loan is thru! Messed up..

I even had one try to "one up" me with regards to our situation with husband being in the hospital.

That one, ROFL... The bill collector: "I had that happen too! And I had 5 kids and I was a stay at home mom...I just had to borrow money to pay off my bills. My husband had rung up $1,000,000 after 8 days in the ICU."

I told her she should get a new hospital...

That was the one that refused the payment I offered them, repeatedly.
