i don't know if non-british sigs will be valid BM...i have posted it on FB for all my british friends though. i somehow don't see the "sheeple" sitting still for this...give up their gardens? the english?? what about the lavender fields of france and the firmly entrenched aromatherapy business there?

last i heard those products that have already been approved are not going to be shut down, but any new ones need to go through the same process our FDA subjects products to.

and don't think there is no movement like this in america behind closed doors.

check out natural solutions website (naturalsolutions.org) for their activities blocking similar legislation here...

Yeah, I realized that 5 minutes after I made that post. *facepalm*

I wonder what the basis for all this is? Maybe I should re-read and find out. Is it really people's 'safety' they're worried about? Or is there some other motivating factor? *cough*drugcompanies*cough*

It's worse in America. Whilst you were all rejoicing Obama's win he was busy writing Laws that ban all organic veg and fruit from being grown!

The FDA has already passed laws regarding America's vit/min allowances and it's all coming over to Europe now. We've been petitioning for years in the UK to no avail

BTW don't have the flu jab - it's full of swine flu vaccine.

This is interesting, Lara,
can you tell us more about it?

What laws/bills, exactly?

My pesky Saturn in Virgo
needs to see the evidence.

Sorry to deter your thread, LTT. ♥

Regarding H.R. 875: http://www.govtrack.us/

quote:
GovTrack.us is a tool by Civic Impulse, LLC to help the public research and track the activities in the U.S. Congress, promoting and innovating government transparency and civic education through novel uses of technology. You'll find here the status of U.S. federal legislation, voting records for the Senate and House of Representatives, information on Members of Congress, district maps, as well as congressional committees and the Congressional Record.

Search for "H.R. 875" - the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009.

You can read the bill yourself and go to the FAQs for detailed explanations of each part of the bill. From what I'm reading only small businesses will be subject to it. You can still grow your own organic produce.

quote:
Here are a few things that H.R. 875 DOES do:

-It addresses the most critical flaw in the structure of FDA by splitting it into 2 new agencies -one devoted to food safety and the other devoted to drugs and medical devices.

-It increases inspection of food processing plants, basing the frequency of inspection on the risk of the product being produced - but it does NOT make plants pay any registration fees or user fees.

-It does extend food safety agency authority to food production on farms, requiring farms to write a food safety plan and consider the critical points on that farm where food safety problems are likely to occur.

-It requires imported food to meet the same standards as food produced in the U.S.

And just as importantly, here are a few things that H.R. 875 does NOT do:

-It does not cover foods regulated by the USDA (beef, pork, poultry, lamb, catfish.)

-It does not establish a mandatory animal identification system.

-It does not regulate backyard gardens.

-It does not regulate seed.

-It does not call for new regulations for farmers markets or direct marketing arrangements.

-It does not apply to food that does not enter interstate commerce (food that is sold across state lines).

-It does not mandate any specific type of traceability for FDA-regulated foods (the bill does instruct a new food safety agency to improve traceability of foods, but specifically says that recordkeeping can be done electronically or on paper.)

Several of the things not found in the DeLauro can be found in other bills - like H.R. 814, the Tracing and Recalling Agricultural Contamination Everywhere Act, which calls for a mandatory animal identification system, or H.R. 759, the Food And Drug Administration Globalization Act, which overhauls the entire structure of FDA. H.R. 759 is more likely to move through Congress than H.R. 875. And H.R. 759 contains several provisions that could cause problems for small farms and food processors:

-It extends traceability recordkeeping requirements that currently apply only to food processors to farms and restaurants - and requires that recordkeeping be done electronically.

-It calls for standard lot numbers to be used in food production.

-It requires food processing plants to pay a registration fee to FDA to fund the agency's inspection efforts.

-It instructs FDA to establish production standards for fruits and vegetables and to establish Good Agricultural Practices for produce.

Yeah i figured you'd probably say that Yin. I'm not surprised... try to look at the BIGGER picture please.

A Law to control the planets natural food and its growth is just the iceberg.
Sometimes life requires us to think LATERALLY!

yes we have talked about these bills before, when they were in front of congress last year.

the website is: http://www.healthfreedomportal.org/

perhaps they changed, perhaps i just got mixed up but they do seem to get hacked occasionally, they believe by spies trying to stop them but who knows?

the CODEX thing has been brewing a long time.

lara, obama may turn out to be who david icke says he is but i'm still not convinced. at any rate he does not WRITE the bills, but signs them and often suggests them

I know that Kat... what l meant was that Obama was the decoy duck that drew the worlds attention whilst the bill went unnoticed!
Usual story

It's a perfect world for them if we can't look after our own health. Saves a fortune on finding ways to mass cull and mass control is way easier.

things are so complex, more and more so as we go along...so far i have heard nothing from my alotment holding friends here or in england that would indicate any desire to stop people growing their own. that doesn't mean it's not in the pipeline. but there are also a HUGE number - and growing - of people who DO grow their own, and who buy local and will not likely sit still for attempts to enforce any such provisions.

in fact i think it would be a fine way to start a serious revolution if they tried.

i do know that trying to second guess all the oligarchs and structures in operation is mind-numbingly taxing! probably best to pick an area and stay active there...? do you have a veggie garden at your place?

interestingly i was listening to some of obama's chat with jon stewart yesterday, after the fact. stewart a) accused him and his admin of being "timid" when it came to the kind of change, healthcare and political, that people had expected. and obama pointed out that reforming washington was not something you could just go in and do in a few months' time. the system and its corruption are ENTRENCHED and have to be whittled away at.

he also pointed out that while the healthcare act has a lot of ADMITTED omissions and problems, it has set the framework in place for better conditions. he alluded to the social security act, which i remember jwhop calling a swizz because it aimed at people older than the projected life expectancy at the time. obama pointed out that the original SS provisions were meant to cover widows and orphans primarily...so it was not at that time meant to be a "retirement fund" as such, but over time grew to cover much more than the original plan.

re the healthcare act i have said more than once that i suspect the mandate will be repealed and may even have been planned to be repealed - AFTER using it to bring the insurance companies into line -

what i'm getting at is that though some of these bills look nasty, if you take out parts of them they are fine, and it is up to those who are aware to lobby till those nasty bits are removed!!

CODEX, on the other hand, is a surreptitious little bugger that does seem aimed at giving pharma control over all supplements and monsanto et al control over all food...it may take more than petitions to kill it but kill it we must.

because what is available in europe affects the rest of the world, and what they get away with there will affect us even more.

I knew most of this already. What I objected to, Lara, is your reckless use of hyperbole. Your sweeping accusations are unsupported. And don't tell Yin about the Big Picture, like you're the only one with eyes for it. She's a Saggie w/ Sun/Neptune (exact) in the 11th. She and I both have strong 11th and 12th house energy, along with strong Sag, Aqua and outer planetary energy; mostly, we think about the Big Picture. That's our job, lol.

Speaking of the BIG Picture:

Funny you should ask as i'm presently designing a special corner in my garden for growing organic veggies in raised beds.

LOL Valus... geez, i'm so scared of your aqua/sag!
I'm not even gonna explain what it is in my chart that enables me to intuitively see the big picture and why it's my job as well cos it's kinda pathetic.

So where does your 11th and 12th house think this is all going then? Spraying crops, banning sale of vitamins/minerals, restriction on growing veg/fruit and GM foods. I'm dying to hear what you have to say on this, preferably without Yin coming to the aid of your YANG!

does not threaten the growing of organic fruits and veggies as you said here:

quote:

Laws that ban all organic veg and fruit from being grown!

If you want to support your claim, you will need to show the correct evidence is all.

Lara,

1.)
This is an astrology site, yes?

So, I see nothing pathetic about using astrology here
to back up claims about what themes one is sensitive to.

2.)
I've made it very clear where I think we're headed,
and what radical measures I think are necessary.

See the link I just posted.

3.)
Don't whine that you're outnumbered. That's pathetic.

Yin and I make a good team, don't we?

Maybe if you didn't alienate everyone here
you'd have somebody to back you up?

Just a thought.

Yin,
Forgive me but your post is really narrow-minded. I am disappointed as Valus has just been promoting your aquarian/sagittarius laterally thinking, big picture vision traits and this post sounds like a scientist's post.

Science doesn't equal the big picture i'm afraid. Scientific Evidence in itself is narrow-minded and the aim is to read that Bill and THEN read between the lines. I believe they are 8th/9th house traits innit.

So we can sit here and patronise each other all day spitting blood etc but l consider Kat to be a friend and therefore wish to not derail her thread on EU plans to ban all natural medicines, even though it goes hand in hand with organic bans.

Valus,

I'm not a pussy - i don't need anyone in my corner, yin nor yang. I am complete, as me. Why do dogs lick their balls? Cos they can.

Secondly, l do have friends here. For you to perceive that l don't, you must be irritated by my 'i don't give a toss' attitude. At least i am being me and not wearing a mask, air-kissing and being fake. (not saying you are, just pointing out that at least i'm genuine).

Thirdly, this is not a dating site it's an astrology site.
Fourthly, there is no fourthly cos i can't be bothered.

Oh, and l just found out that i'm an evil sorceress that murders people who p1ss her off! whoopee doo

roarrrrrrrrrr
