(Believed You Were) Lucky

So I guess I'll give it up, yeah, I guess I will
What's the use in pushing when it's all uphill
I can't be appointed, keeper of the flame
Without two to carry, it won't burn the same

Oh, it seems obvious to me but then again
Could be you just never felt that way

Lyrics Provided By ZoneLyrics.net

I wish you believed in life, believed in fate
Believed you were lucky and worth the wait
'Cause life could be lovely, oh, life could be so great

It gets so embarrassing, so I acquiesce
And I'll change my mind again, you change your address
Oh, it seems logical to me but then again
Could be I was simply not that smart

I thought you believed in life, believed in fate
Believed you were lucky and worth the wait
'Cause life could be lovely, oh, life could be so great

There must be some other door that they are saving
Behind which my happiness lies
I won't be wasting my words to tell you hopes that I had
We can just leave it alone for now

I wish you believe in life, believe in fate
Believe you were lucky and worth the wait
'Cause life could be lovely, oh, life could be ****** ' great

ah, no wonder why...

Born 8 September 1960,

Aimee Mann has come a long way since her childhood days in Richmond, Virginia. At the age of 4, Aimee's mother kidnapped her and took her to England, where she spent the year away from her father and brothers. When she finally returned to Virginia at the age of 5, she grew up the only girl in the family, outnumbered by her father, brothers and stepbrothers (her mother did not return to live with the family, and it took years for Aimee to reconcile with her). Aimee's tomboyish, yet sexy looks can be attributed to her all-male surroundings. The future punk star had trouble fitting in while in junior high, where her and her brothers attended an inner-city school, and were an evident minority in the school hallways. After having to hide out in the school library and being tormented in school, her family relocated to the suburbs. The Midlothian High School 1978 grad was already beginning to think about her career goals, which always had something to do with the arts. She started out with painting and drawing, but then decided to turn to music. Already familiar with the acoustic guitar (Aimee was able to play some Neil Young songs), she enrolled in a summer course at the Berklee College of music (which Diana Krallalso attended), and then continued the rest of her guitar and bass full-time studies at the prestigious school, where she mastered the skills and the art of practice. Aimee skipped out on Berklee before graduation, and opted to take to the stage instead. First she formed the punk band, the Young Snakes, and then joined the band 'Til Tuesday as its lead singer, which turned out to be her claim to fame. With pop princess Aimme Mann -- '80s glam and all -- singing anthems for all angry women out there ......

I posted a couple of her songs in music threads in Astro 2.0. I like her, too.
