Randall, you charmer you I probably wouldn't believe you if you told me I was pretty or cute or goregous, etc. But I think for a lot of us women if we aren't told that as kids or growing up that we are pretty or beautiful, than we have a harder time accepting it when we're older. IP: Logged |

I'm not one of those people. If you called me stunning I'd say hey, thanks for noticing-lol. I have a guy that comes in to my work and one day he says "Hi gorgeous how are you?" and I said "Gorgeous and you?" The other day a guy was hitting on me and he says "You're a beautiful lady you know that?" and I said, "Yes, I know that's why I like to keep my options open." Hahaha I like to surprise people. I remember on time my sisters friend said to me, 'You know you're prettier than D." My sister is the pretty one and I'm the smart (ass) one. And I was like nah-ah and she said 'No, you really are because you always smile." Another time, at another place I worked, this mother and son used to come in-they were older people-and I'd always greet them happy to see them. I have pretty bad teeth and one day the lady said to me in all sincerity, "You have a beautiful smile" and I thanked her. I really don't know if I'm attractive or not I just know I'm very comfortable in my own skin and when I'm out and about mingling with people I'm not thinking about my flaws, I'm just being me and every now and again people go out of their way to tell me how beautiful, good looking, pretty or whatever have you I am and I don't argue with them-lol. So, maybe those people who don't feel like they deserve the praise for their physical attractiveness are too wound up and serious about their imperfections to enjoy it. IP: Logged |

OMG! I am so afraid of compliments it's unreal! I analyse every word of it...I think I just get confused by language and communication so much that I barely trust it. Like my family call all their daughters beautiful all the time without any kind of discernment. I understand the sentimentality but I really get confused whether or not they actually mean it for real this time. Then there are the times when guys purposefully do NOT compliment girls because they either think they get complimented all the time or they like to refrain from doing so because it gives them power over her...(and vice versa) Then there are girls who are being bitchy, who will call girls beautiful or ugly and say the opposite behind their back! All sorts of communication... I now don't trust any of it.... Does anyone else relate to this or is it just me? IP: Logged |

pisces moon: I would occasionally think I looked okay, but otherwise, I was very self-conscious when it came to either imperfections or certain physical attributes (like my 'lovely little figure' and the decent sized chest). That's part of what I've been so p*ssed about lately. I was so used to being separate from most teens, for whatever reason, and being teased by most peers (for whatever reason), that the good thing said by those closest to me, didn't really do anything to counteract the negativity for a long time (and those are the people I should have been listening to). I know that my smile has attracted people to me, despite my teeth not being perfect. When Christmas shopping, four years ago, my sister pointed out that the guy behind the counter seemed to have a thing for me (I hadn't noticed - I'd been too busy laughing with my mother, over the fact that I'd somehow managed to get lost in JC Penney )IP: Logged |

I have only begun to discover my female self, and it is both a terrifying and wonderful thing! Being intersex, identitfying as male, gay male...for all my life...until recently...the breakthroughs and blasting away my inner barriers, facing myself head on, no more hiding from me, after my suicidal ideation fugue a few weeks ago... remembering painfully the feeling like a troll, a mutant, ugly, when I was younger and thin... totally not in touch with my female self... Well...... I no longer feel like a troll, a mutant, ugly...I feel alive, re-born, as I am beginning the next chapter of my life, as the woman I did not even recognize nor acknowledged was there buried deep within my psyche under my maleness identity. I feel beautiful at last! It does not matter if others do not feel the same. I love me now, and I am beautiful! This is not vanity! It is the total self acceptance of all of me...without shame, holding my inner girl child...loving her, telling her, the boy had his chance...dominated my being...for too long...its her turn now to live, to grow up, to become the woman I was supposed to be...to live and love, as a woman. There is no turning back...I deserve to be finally whole. So am I beautiful? I feel so inside, so therefore, I am!

I can relate, Lexx. This may not be good and is not, I guess, cuz I suppose you should feel beautiful,on your own. However, now is the first time I feel beautiful. My guy exudes an acceptance of me that makes me feel beautiful on the inside. I feel more at home with my body and with my essential self. It is like a kind of alchemy. You know, love and acceptance can change a person,so much. ------------------ Pluto conjunct Dejanira, Girlfriend. IP: Logged |

Yes! Very wonderful! I was told by several folks...that series of unexpected wonderful changes were coming to me...changes that would totally redefine who I am and more! I was like...yeah right...uh huh..... sardonically, bitterly resigned, I laughed. And now, here I am, after awakening and spitting out my poisoned laughter..... Wanting to, intending to, live as I have never before allowed or believed was possible for me!Ladies! Learn to love yourselves! This is the first key to happiness! You are all beautiful! quote:
love your sparkling icons.
Thank you teasel! quote:
I wish that more girls and women could truly appreciate themselves - not just looks, and not 'just' inner beauty, but the whole package. I love those times when I've just appreciated who I am - really felt it, and just felt good about myself.
Cultivate that feeling, that realization! In time it will become very easy and natural for you to feel that way! continued next post.......IP: Logged |

quote: One thing that gets me is everything that's geared towards women... we may like some of it, and be glad that it's there for us to use, but it bugged me when I saw an advert for something that you use, and wake up the following morning looking younger - with the girls featured being all of 22, at most. (They were probably younger, and so happy about waking up looking visibly younger than their already-young selves.)
In deed! More likely 15 to 18.....when my son was modeling, I found out about that fact. And seriously touch up their photos to boot! Is it no wonder that women over 22 or so often feel old and or homely, to ugly? quote: I'm PMS'ing, sorry.

Ideally, yes, however we more often than not; needs another to help them see that; someone they trust with all their heart and soul, to gently lift the masks and veils, to allow our inner mirror to reflect back to us, how truly beautiful we are! There is nothing wrong with that dear, as long as it is sincere and helps you come to that you are indeed beautiful and worthy of giving yourself love and more! quote:

You know, I had an astrological thought. I wonder if Venus trine the moon in a guy makes him have the ability to make a woman feel beautiful. The 2 men I know with that aspect ,can do that. That would be a good thread ,for later ------------------ Pluto conjunct Dejanira, Girlfriend. IP: Logged |
