Diabetes does fit being that's what Linda died of. Other than that Cancer is a good one. I have a woman at work who sits next to me suffering from it currently and it kills me to see her suffer. That and I've lost 2 grandparents to it. IP: Logged |

I like Ami's idea. I've long been a fan of helping the elderly since they are really overlooked and tossed aside a lot of the time. But if it would have to be Linda-related then yeah, the diabetes stuff sounds like a good plan. IP: Logged |

AG Or maybe a charity for funding The Gerson Institute, where people receive Cancer treatments that work. http://www.gerson.org/ http://www.cancure.org/Gerson_Institute.htm http://www.cancure.org/donations.htm IP: Logged |

There's a radio station in Phoenix that does an annual "Christmas Wish" event. They raise money all year and the event begins on December 1st. People write into the station and explain that they have a friend or co-worker who is barely making it financially through the holidays so they are unable to create Christmas or Hanukah for their family. The radio station picks 24 or 25 people to receive the Christmas Wish which is a combination of gifts and presents for each child, and the gifts range from clothes to games, portable DVD players, infant clothes and accessories, GROCERIES, rent and/or utilities being caught up on, necessary car repairs being paid for, a Christmas tree, etc. It's a combination of needs being met for the parent(s) and children; and a smattering of gifts. To get an idea of what they do, go to www.Johnjayandrich.com and they probably have a podcast of some of their "Christmas Wish" broadcasts that happen every morning in December up to Christmas Day. I don't think it's a non-profit charity, but maybe some ideas will come to you from this. After seeing a few posts here of people who are barely making it through the holidays, maybe it can be LL specific or something. I don't quite know how you can make it so that people can receive a tax deduction, but I'm just throwing the idea out there. IP: Logged |

That's a great idea, Geo.------------------ "The stars which shone over Babylon and the stable in Bethlehem still shine as brightly over the Empire State Building and your front yard today. That radio stations "Christmas Wish" has me crying every day. I listen to it on iHeartRadio App from New York and they really load down the needy wish-winners with lots of gifts and gear. It's pretty awesome, they really put together a big giant cornucopia of stuff for them. I really hope you can do something with it, that would sooooo awesome!IP: Logged |
