The only thing that's completely and entirely good for you on that list is sex.

Others, I disagree, despite the studies. Alcohol is not good for you. Coffee is not good for you, etc, etc. Basically, all these things that are said to be "good for you" have things in them that are equally bad for you. In some cases, there might be more bad things in a substance than those that are good for you, but an article or study won't mention that. So...

I recently learned that alcohol hurts your 'etheric' (<----spelling) body. Like chocolate, yes sure, it has good things but more damaging in it is the sugar. And sugar is also bad for you. So...

I never used to drink at all but since my son died, I started having 2 Guiness Extra Stouts every night.
Do you think that is bad for you?
Please be honest.
I am not hooked

2 and a half years.
I CAN stop. I wonder IS it ok?
I don't feel the need to go beyond 2.
However, I wonder if alcohol EVERY day is bad for you.
I don't FEEL it taking a toll but ,perhaps, it may be.
I am a vegetarian, mainly,so want to do what is right by my body.
I do not need it ,now, like I DID after my son died.
Thank you for caring, PS

No! alcohol (in moderation) is not bad for you.
I have drunk a couple of glasses of wine (red) nearly every day for donkeys years and I look FABULOUS darling!!
It's choc full of antioxidants, relaxes you and stops the arteries clogging.
I also eat a couple of squares of 85% dark choc EVERY day.
And Guiness? Ami Ann? It's Irish!! And the Irish are frickin' indestructible.
Full of iron and relaxing. Drink away.
Bottoms up
Salut
Cheers
Sante
And as they say in our part of the world
"Get it down your neck!!

Yeah I wouldn't worry about having 2 a day, If you were tossing back 5 or more...then I'd say you might want to think about cutting back.

If you enjoy it, well then keep on doing it.

My great aunt, bless her, said to me, eat what you want and die happy.

Good advice.

Every time I hear this song I think
If you had put a bet on who would see old age out of these two your money certainly wouldn't be on Shane McGowan.
He, by his own admission has been drunk every day since he was 9 years old and there was Kirsty lovely and fresh.
And he's still with us and she has been gone a good few years.

Like I said Ami, the Irish are indestructible.
I'm not saying anyone should emulate this but I will agree with Absinthe's great aunt.

Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think..

My grandma swears by having one glass of red wine every day. I'm not sure but I think she's in her 80's.

There is another article somewhere....
I'll try to dig it up when I have time.
(I'm cleaning for an out of town visitor, and it's very time consuming)

But the article I found said that the majority of people who live to be over 100 years old, both drink AND smoke.

This wasn't meant to advocate that, it was meant in the spirit of lighthearted amusement.

Anyway, whoever said MODERATION~ is right.

Anything you overdo will end up doing you in, obviously!

My Grandma died from liver complications and she didn't drink.

My other Grandma died from emphasema (sp?) and she never smoked nor lived with a smoker.

*Just live and enjoy your life.
Have happiness in your heart, let go of bitterness, and you'll live as long as you are *supposed* to. Doncha think??
