What do you think about this? Is the US fully within their rights to only charge Canadians to visit the country? Why ONLY Canadians? Do you think Canadians should stay in their own country? http://ca.news.yahoo.com/obama-proposes-fee-canadian-visitors-u-draft-budget-20110216-210631-838.html IP: Logged |

I think the U.S. would be within its rights for sure, but it does seem like an odd proposal. Personally, I like Canadians. They generally seem like nice folk. IP: Logged |

Sounds like a sweet deal for the U.S. The Canadian currency is worth more than U.S. IP: Logged |

Doesn't surprise me the US economy is so shatered in debt that any sources of extra revenue whould be considered.I ask the following question if the US were to tax $5 towards its own citizens because there represented there whould be a big public outcry. But, you can get away with the same policy to people who aren't represented and in another country, in this case Canada. I can understand given the economic conditions and alot of Canadians do drive to the US to take advantage of great deals. I'm only 50 min from the US/Canada border at Ogdensburg, NY/Prescott, Ontario But the fact its not right to tax people who have no say. Overtime, vistors from Canada will absorb it and become "acceptable" to it, if the deals are still great and goods are far cheaper once the duty tax is added. But, anyway it doesn't really bother me not a fan of visting the states anyway too many problems. Plus, I get everything shipped anyway. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus

I strongly agree with the part about taxing people who have no say. I am also against the US having all my info just because I have flown over US air space. That is an invasion of my privacy. IP: Logged |

A dear friend who lives in Toronto told me about this ... this morning...Many Canadians come over to the USA for weekends... some even work across the board... they have been told the payment will pay for "additional security measures" that have been implemented. Makes you wonder...... IP: Logged |
