it seems that even if you are 150 if you are a smoker your death will be listed as "premature due to smoking"...

Good article Dee, that's because it's a medicinal.
Very powerful medicinal herb tobacco is.

I think that it is all the additives in modern tobacco that are the problem.

tobacco is a herb, but the effects of mixing herbs and chemicals like saltpetre can never be good.

the cigarettes used in all the studies and anecdotes are the same as all the rest out there. so maybe the junk in them isn't as bad as we're told either...

if you can afford them american spirit organics will soothe your worries there. i can't!

most things are good and bad for us i guess. too much of anything is just too much.

I like American Spirits (don't smoke anymore), but... they use all natural fertilizers for their tobacca.

i smoke, and i'm not addicted. people give me a skeptical look when i say this, but it's true! i stopped buying packages. i can go on without smoking for weeks! but i don't care if i start smoking more.

i think i wrote this before somewhere here but my partner, who has been smoking since he was a kid once had his lungs examined. he was really terrified because he thought they would be really messed up. but the doctor said his lungs were very healthy!

i agree about the additives. he smokes rolling tobacco with less crap than cigarettes. also it's the STRESS! stress makes everyone ill. it's not tobacco.

Oh my yes!
Roll your own is way less harsh than ready mades!
I used to smoke up to 4 packs a day as a teen.
I stopped when I was 19 and smokes were only 32 to 50 cents a pack.
Was militant anti smoker from 1979 to 1997.
Then started smoking again late 1997 due to stress and being around smokers.
I plan to quit because of costs even though I roll my own.
Also for others who do not like it.
I do not mind; it's a small sacrifice.
I wish I did not enjoy smoking.
It calms me and I felt/feel more alert, and yes nicotine is a brain/body stimulant.
Studies have shown that smokers rarely get senile.
I'd like to find a cheap safe source of non smoking nicotine.
Is there such a thing??????????????
Oh...
I do like the idea of even when quitting, of having an occasional shisha/narghile http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hookah
or a Gandalf like long pipe of non tobacco pipe weed.
However do not need to do so.
At this time am smoking very little tobacco, but mostly a blend of spearmint, catnip, red raspberry leaf and a pinch of mellow pipe tobacco. And once a week a Djarim Mild Filtered clove cigar.
So yes, due to costs and others disliking my smoking, I will stop.
