i don't think anyone can predict extact dates of the end of the world as there are too many factors that are open for speculation like mary summer rains predictions.

Well, it was a simple mathamatical error after all...

But Camping said that he's now realized the apocalypse will come five months after May 21, the original date he predicted. He had earlier said Oct. 21 was when the globe would be consumed by a fireball.

Saturday was "an invisible judgment day" in which a spiritual judgment took place, he said. But the timing and the structure is the same as it has always been, he said.

"We've always said May 21 was the day, but we didn't understand altogether the spiritual meaning," he said. "May 21 is the day that Christ came and put the world under judgment."

It's not the first time the independent Christian radio host has been forced to explain when his prediction didn't come to pass. He also predicted the Apocalypse would come in 1994, but said it didn't happen then because of a mathematical error.

While being a little ignorant of full bible teachings, I think they have the rapture mixed up with something else, death.

'you will not know the day, hour etc of my coming' etc etc.

To me, this is Jesus telling people that you will not know when you will likely die, not the time when he rides down on some clouds to save certain people.

Maybe someone else here can correct me, but I really think they get the rapture mixed up with the time of death when you will meet the big man himself.

So much is taken out of context in the bible. I can only claim ignorance.

The Rapture is a discreet, real life, global event happening to a discreet set of people, James. End time events are predicted and known in clear ways. The hour and day is not known but the progression of events is and the signs of the times are.
There are certain things unique in history with the various end time events.
For example, Israel had to be an actual state to herald in the end time events. Before this happened, none of the later ones could happen.
My point is Bible predication is not amorphous but specific.
THAT is how you know it is God. If it were any old thing, anyone could do it.
The fact that is is SPECIFIC shows the Divine imprint.
That is why faith is an intellectual process with logic 90% of the way. The last 10% is a pure leap of faith, imo.
Death is totally different. It is a life event for each specific person not a global prediction for mankind lol

We all die sometime, so it can be a prediction for all of humanity.

I just watched Zeitgeist for the second time last night. That's a whole different story.

What do you make of it?

Mark Your Calendars: End of World Coming Oct. 21, Camping Says
Stephanie Pappas, LiveScience Senior Writer
Date: 14 October 2011 Time: 05:20 PM ET

The radio preacher who predicted Judgment Day on May 21 has not backed down from his claims that the end of the world is near, despite the lack of a Rapture or world-devastating earthquakes leading up to the doomsday.

In an announcement on his Family Radio Network website, Harold Camping stands by his earlier predictions that the world will end on Friday, Oct. 21. Originally, Camping had predicted hourly earthquakes and God's judgment on May 21, to be followed by months of torment on Earth for those individuals left behind. Using numerical codes extracted from the Bible, Camping set the date for the end of everything for Oct. 21.

When May 21 came and went without fanfare, Camping revised his story. The "earthquakes" he had predicted did occur, he writes on his website in a post titled "What Happened on May 21?" — only instead of shaking the Earth, God shook mankind "with fear." Likewise, although no one was raptured, God is no longer saving souls, Camping writes.

"What really happened this past May 21st?" Camping wrote. "What really happened is that God accomplished exactly what He wanted to happen."

Camping, who suffered a stroke in June and is now at home recuperating, also said in an audio message on his site that the end on Oct. 21 will come quietly.

It's not unusual for failed doomsday predictors to claim that their prophecies were true, just slightly misunderstood. [Read: 10 Failed Doomsday Predictions]
http://www.livescience.com/7926-10-failed-doomsday-predictions.html

"Most often, the answer given by the group is that the prophecy is true, but the interpretation was wrong," Concordia University professor of religion Lorenzo DiTommaso told LiveScience during Camping's rush of publicity in May.

The modern Seventh-Day Adventist church, for example, got its start as a splinter group of Baptist preacher William Miller, who predicted the end of the world on Oct. 22, 1844. In the post-doomsday letdown, Miller's followers struggled to explain what went wrong. The group that would become the Seventh-Day Adventists concluded that on that day, Jesus had shifted his location in heaven in preparation to return to Earth.

Other groups have also survived failed predictions of Armageddon. The Jehovah's Witnesses made specific predictions about the apocalypse until the early 1990s, when they switched to more vague prophecies. A 1950s doomsday cult known as The Seekers actually bragged to the media after their end-of-the-world prediction failed, saying that their devotion had saved humanity.....
