Hmmmm......

That's a great question. If you asked the high school student, they'd probably say not. BUT then you'd go to a spirit rally, and there'd be that sense of belonging to something bigger , a community.

So I think togetherness and belonging can be nurtured or reminded, in a broader sense- and in the 'familial sense'....knowing you belong to a group of peers and a group of workers and a group of fellow citizens.... but I think everyone has an innate sense of 'aloneness' that is very valid and real, and does bump against the edges of togetherness...and no matter how you belong, there is that part who is apart.

Both are real and ebb and flow depending on the circumstance.

GREAT question.
I have to think about it. I have both but it is a complicated question

This sense of belongingness or lack of it is nothing but an Identity crisis. We need to look inside our own hearts for the logic behind such feelings.
It is based on our souls transformation...How far have you been appreciated or wounded or have felt depths of pain and hatred or love can make all the difference to how you assume it to be.

When I feel I belong to myself, I seem to belong everywhere or MOST places.
When I don't, I feel I don't belong anywhere.

A feeling of belonging is more common as people are very similar, and don't sway from the norm. An example is young kids who speak with the same accents as their parents and all the people born around the place they live.
