The assisted suicide Dr from MI has died and left a part of him behind that will linger in the hearts of people that understood and supported his mission.

His quirky smile, fiesty personality and compassion will be missed.

From The Detroit News:

'Dr. Death' Jack Kevorkian dies at age 83
Oralandar Brand-Williams/ The Detroit News
Jack Kevorkian, a former Oakland County pathologist who stirred public debate about physician-assisted suicide and admitted helping 130 people end their lives, has died.

Kevorkian had been hospitalized with kidney and respiratory problems for several weeks at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 83.

Michigan's most famous felon pathologist, dubbed Dr. Death in the heyday of his assisted-suicide crusade, was released from prison in 2007 after serving more than eight years of a 10- to 25-year sentence for murder for a nationally televised fatal injection he gave in 1998 to a patient stricken with Lou Gehrig's disease.

A jury convicted "Dr. Death" of second-degree murder in the case, dramatically ending a string of acquittals that had imbued Kevorkian with strident self-righteousness and transformed him into a symbol of the right-to-death movement.

I was watching Court TV at the time of his trial.
I personally, thought Dr K was decent. However, any killings other than natural deaths are too slippery a slope for man to mess with imo.
Of course, your heart goes out to the person to whom Kevorkian assisted.
That man died a million deaths with each breath.
However, mortal man is too flawed to navigate the wisdom of death imo.

Jack only wanted to give us the same dignity that we give to our pets.

A dear vibrant loving woman in my life recently died after suffering horribly for several years.
She wanted to die but her family "saved" her.
So she lay for years in pain and filth and with without dignity, her mind lost, and then finally she blessedly died.

From what I see on a daily basis at work, people suffering, not being awarded a "natural" death, kept to linger...

He was a saint~~~

Death should be a choice as is life~
