How about completely free?Get skype. You can video call, chat or do voice call. It's totally free as long as the other person has SKYPE. Lebara and lyca mobile are the ones that I seem drawn to, though not sure of the prices. IP: Logged |

even if the other person doesn't have Skype, it's still quite cheap, even more if it's a land line. you should definitely get it.IP: Logged |

Tried Skype. No luck. The connection breaks up too much. Apparently it does not work everywhere. To England seems to work part time but not all the time, but No luck to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and a few other places. Could be my idiot internet provider. IP: Logged |

i buy $10 calling cards and the rate, if you use a landline and call a landline, is about 5c per...available in multiple stores, i use my local pharmacy. cell phones will eat it up though.i also had a plan with ATT on my old landline where the rate was similar, though there was a monthly charge to make it happen (can't remember but NOT steep) which makes sense if you call there OFTEN. if it's once in a blue moon, not so hot. Yeah I have a land line but unfortunately all persons I'd call only have cell phones. Hence the problem I guess. Sadly my land line has totally free long distance but only on this continent. I have Windstream. It is crap. About $100 a month for phone and internet not including any European calls. Any better options please do tell! Once my divorce is done....not sure how I will afford things. IP: Logged |

i meant from Skype. you can call the landlines and mobile phones with Skype and it's quite cheap.but that's too bad that it's not working so well for you. it's probably the internet though, not the region. i've used it to calle/chat with many locations but never had place/specific problems... i hope you'll find a way! I would recommend Vonage (I think that's what we have), if it didn't regularly cut out. We pay a set fee per month, and that includes overseas calls. Mum skypes regularly, with my aunts, sister, cousins, friends... IP: Logged |

Apparently magic jack is saying if you send a magic jack device to someone overseas they can get a domestic number you can call like they're in the states or vice versa. It's $34 and then $19 annually. I was thinking about buying one to replace my phone line/cell phone. http://www.ehow.com/how_4735619_free-international-calls-magicjack.html I use skype to talk computer to computer to an overseas friend. Yahoo should still have a call setup where you can chat via mic with webcam being optional. Phone cards aren't bad either. I used to use them to call people in Peru, but the rates were higher if I were calling their cell versus a land-line. Edit: I also looked into gmail, and they have a calling system where you can call a landline in France for 2 cents a minute, or say finland for 3 cents. Not sure where you are calling. IP: Logged |

when we lived in houston we had comcast i believe... was a bundled package with phone, internet and tv... i understand verizon and vonage are also good low cost options...------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo." Lexx, I use the Mega Clean card from Union Telecard. Germany is 1.7 cents a minute, for example; France is 2.0 cents. Here is the link to their rates. http://www.uniontelecard.com/phonecards/2045/mega-clean-and-stable/highlighted-rates/ IP: Logged |
