Well, I have seen this personally in 11 years of nursing.I the population I work with, it is almost common. Being about 2 hours from the Mexican boarder, we have lots and lots of peeople who come and go from Mexico. Down there, they get the worms from uncooked pork... My last patient I saw this in, the worm was SO big, he seized, over and over...they tried to kill the thing with drugs, funny the same thing we use to treat cat tape worms with, just in a much stronger strength. Ewwwwwwww is correct....and SO rare in the US! IP: Logged |

On and by the way, this particular man's brain worm was So big it pushed his brain way over in his skull, that is why he was seizing, and the docs said took about 1/2 of his brain space in the skull!IP: Logged |

God, that sucks! I've heard of the stomach, but the idea of brain worms....awful. Though I have to agree that almost anything is possible in Nursing. *shivers* I guess this is just another reason I should be glad I come from a porkless culture. YUCKO.
And sorry LEXX, I don't have it in me to watch the video. Something about invasion of the brain freaks me out....maybe its all the mercury in my chart.
