Hello there,

Firstly, thank you to those who maintain this site, there is much useful information and experiences here.

I am new here, but have had an interest in Astrology for years on and off. I got my natal chart today, and I am wondering if anyone is aware of a good online guide to the interpreting of charts? It is something I would like to learn, as I think it may be useful in getting to know the self; I am a psychology student, therefore, I hold wisdom of the self quite highly, although metaphysics has never sat quite neatly with my studies, I am interested in a melding of disciplines that are in conflict -- as an abstract exercise really, but one that may be helpful.

So, can anyone point me in the direction of an online guide, or recommend a good book?

Many thanks

welcome Voix_de_la_Mer (voice of the sea?)

from Bonny Scotland !

This is a rather general forum and I wondered if you posted this as well in Personal Readings or the Astrology forums?

Have you studied any Rudolf Steiner ? His Works are a good background on melding the metaphysical and psychological.

Thank you for the welcome Juniperb

I haven't posted this anywhere else no, if you think it better, I shall post it again in Astrology?

I haven't heard of Rudolf Steiner, no, but thank you for the heads up. What I'd like to do is just start with learning the chart interpretation -- I'm trying to create a theraputic program, so I am looking at different elements to combine. But I have to learn about them first, then see if they will be appropriate. It may or may not be useful to see how others have combined the metaphysical and the psychological in the future, but at this stage I would like to remain as free from direction as possible. Perhaps this is the completely wrong way to go about it, but it works for music, therefore, I have faith

And yes, it means 'voice of the sea', my french is very bad, but I love the language. I hope to take it this year at university. Voix de la Mer is the title of a song I wrote, sometimes the sea seems more of a living thing to me than people.

Thank you for your reply.

Greetings again

Yes, it would benefit from being in the Astrology forums !

I apologise for assuming. Beacuse you posted in a site dedicated to Linda Goodman, I "assumed" you had read her Works.

If not, then her material would be a wonderful place to start. Her Astrology and Esoteric books are online..

Sun Signs and Star Signs are excellent to start with !

Then if you wanted to go deeper into the metaphysical, Steiner or Edgar Cayce are both wonderful and available online.

No need to apologise, it's perfectly logical to assume that. I found this site whilst researching the concept of souls. I'm interested in completion; I suspect a lot of suffering stems from a feeling of being incomplete, and I also believe this particular type of suffering can lead to mental illness, because of how isolating it can become. Loneliness, founded or unfounded, is a perfect breeding ground for mental health issues. I have a feeling you probably know more about all of this than I do, so I'll stop looking like an idiot now! I'm not under the illusion I can bring anything new to the table, but what I do know is that many, many people who are suffering need a new approach. I guess I figure if we have many people searching for that new approach, it will eventually solidify into a whole.

Once here, I did read some of the threads regarding Linda Goodman -- it seems her work, and life have touched many people. I will endeavour to obtain one of her books, thank you for the suggestion.

I hope I didn't offend you before; I can come across rigid and lofty when I really believe in something, but it's not what is actually being expressed. I know very little about this world as an adult, as a child everything seemed clearer. I ramble, I'm sorry.

I will repost in Astrology to see if anyone knows of a good online source, and look up Linda's literature.

I've got a site http://www.new-moon-epiphany.co.uk

You could go towards psychological astrology but you need a basic understanding of astrology to follow it. Names like Liz Greene, Howard Sasportas, Karen Hamaker Zondag are good and tend to stay away from the heavy woowoo.

and I forgot, there's Mitchell Gibson, he's a psychiatrist that likes his astrology too.

Hello Dysfunctionalmystic,

(I almost typed 'dysfunctionalmisfit' there for some reason!

Thank you very much for your suggestions, I will follow them up, and look into the site you've provided.

I actually like a bit of woowoo -- of the cocktail variety though

Hello Lalalinda and Randall, I appreciate the welcome, thanks for having me

While there are a couple of mods about here, could anyone tell me if there is a more efficient way of locating the threads I have posted in, rather than trying to remember them, then searching for them? My memory is ridiculously unreliable for the practical!

Sure

When you are on the list of forums page, in the upper left is this:

Click Here To View Today's Active Topics (all public forums)

Click on it and you get the days current list of posts.

Of course, it is a plus if you remember the name of your thread

hope that helps.
