"Monday's Child is fair of face, Tuesday's Child is full of grace, Wednesday's Child is full of woe, Thursday's Child has far to go, Friday's Child is loving and giving, Saturday's Child works hard for a living, But the child born on the Sabbath Day is fair and wise and good and gay." Monday is mine. I have often wondered how {or if} this links to astrology?

The Sabbath is generally considered as the seventh day; which equates to Saturday, NOT Sunday. Sunday is the first day. So that cute poem is not entirely accurate on what is the Sabbath.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monday%27s_Child http://cafeastrology.com/articles/daysoftheweek.html Thursday (jeudi in French) is ruled by Jupiter. "Thursday's child has far to go" might thus be interpreted as a person who will travel and learn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thursday The astrological and astronomical sign of the planet Jupiter (♃Jupiter) is sometimes used to represent Thursday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet within the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass slightly less than one-thousandth of the Sun but is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Jupiter is classified as a gas giant along with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Together, these four planets are sometimes referred to as the Jovian or outer planets. Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius and is exalted in Cancer. In Roman mythology, Jupiter is the ruler of the gods and their guardian and protector, and his symbol is the thunderbolt. Astronomers believe that it plays an important protecting role in using its massive gravity to capture or expel from the solar system many comets and asteroids that would otherwise threaten Earth and the inner planets. Jupiter takes 11.9 years to orbit the Sun, spending almost an earth year (361 days) in each sign of the zodiac. In the Hindu religion, Thursday is Guruvaar ગુજરાતી , from Guru, the Sanskrit name for Jupiter, the largest of planets. Guruvaar fasting is very common throughout India for various holy/religious reasons. Guru also means "Teacher" - referring to the role that Brihaspati, the God of the planet Jupiter, has as teacher of all the gods. http://www.indianastrologyhoroscope.com/Jupiter_Brihaspati.html In the words of astrology, Jupiter who is also called as Brahaspati and Devaguru in Sanskrit, is the planet of wisdom, the Lord of light and the teacher of gods. He is the paradisiacal giver of divine knowledge upon the mortal land. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%E1%B9%9Bhaspati In later Hindu Theology, he is the guru of the Devas and the arch-nemesis of Shukracharya, the guru of the Danavas. He is also known as Ganapati (leader of the group [of planets]), and Guru (teacher), the god of wisdom and eloquence, to whom various works are ascribed, such as the Barhaspatya sutras. He is described of yellow or golden colour and holding the following divine attributes: a stick, a lotus and beads. He presides over 'Guru-var' or Thursday. In astronomy he is the regent of Jupiter and often identified with that planet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barhaspatya_sutras The Bārhaspatya-sūtras (a patronymic of Brhaspati), also Lokāyata ("materialistic", "atheistic") sutras were the foundational text of the Cārvāka school of "materialist" (nastika) philosophy. Probably dating to the final centuries BC (the Mauryan period), these texts have been lost, and are known only from fragmentary quotations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter_%28astrology%29#Jupiter Thursday (Listeni/ˈθɜrzdi/ or /ˈθɜrzdeɪ/) is the fourth day of the week according to the ISO 8601 international standard adopted in most western countries. In countries that use the Sunday-first convention and in the Judeo-Christian calendar it is the fifth day of the week. It falls between Wednesday and Friday. The name is derived from Old English Þūnresdæg and Middle English Thuresday, which means "Thunor's day". The English god Thunor (the Norse Thor), after whom Thursday is named. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor In Norse mythology, Thor (from Old Norse Þórr) is a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing, healing, and fertility. The cognate deity in wider Germanic mythology and paganism was known in Old English as Þunor and in Old High German as Donar (runic þonar ᚦᛟᚾᚨᚱ , stemming from a Common Germanic *Þunraz (meaning "thunder").
