I am not sure if I should shave. I have a few first dates coming up and I am not sure if that "(neat) scruffy" look is good, or totally clean shaven.

I am looking for opinions, will probably delete pics in a week or so.

edit: Thanks guys!

For first dates, I suggest going clean-shaven, Carl.. Once you've gotten to know the gal/s better, you can do scruffy, but first dates are a bit like interviews - better to show up clean-shaven, IMO.

I personally like my guy a little bit scruffy - a day or 2 worth of stubble make me melt. But if he'd showed up like that to our first date, I'd have wondered if he was too cool to care about first impressions.

Just my 2 cents,
Sunshine
p.s. Good luck with the first dates! Let me know how it goes!

Haha, that is my whole goal, like, to appear as if it does not matter too much.

And no, I do not want to sound like a player. I want a VERY serious relationship. But I figure till then, it is a numbers game. There is a "second date" coming up soon (I hope) which I am excited for.

I might test my unshaven theory for the coming one, go to the second one still unshaven (since for the first date I was shaven) then shave after that for the next few.. Hope that is not confusing.

I like the scruffy look, it's more masculine, tells me he's comfortable in his skin, it's easier for me to relax around him. And for me, it would be preferred for a first date, and all the time haha.
Unless it is crazzzy on the face, that one tells me he doesn't care what anyone thinks.
(Yours doesn't look crazy.)
Without it, for you, it's more boyish, because you have soft features, so it depends on what you're in the mood for (!)

Hmmm, how easy it to maintain the clean scruffy look? By the time you have the date, will it be past the clean stage? I know some guys who have to shave every three days or so or they end up with too much scruff. General scruffiness is usually acceptable once you get to know a girl. I generally don't care, but my Virgo coworker once remarked that she doesn't give scruffy men a second chance. /shrug.

If the girl is really meant to be the one, she wouldn't care what you look like . Although you should probably shave... for now. lol.

Go for neat scruffy! Some stubble is nice, but not too much cause it tickles. And I second what Lala said.

Good luck!

P.S. I want your mirror. Looks very cool! ツ

I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate?

when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history

Whatever makes you feel like you will make you most attractive.

Playing it cool, might be cool, but it might not get you what you want. Best to be honest in your representation of yourself.

I like you in both but in the clean-shaven photo you look so happy! Either way would be great as long as you keep smiling!

Shave. A trimmed full beard works on a first date but scruffy doesn't.

Ps... Not that it looks bad on you... Just saying better shaved and neat for a first date

i suggest you clean it up... clean shaven looks weird when it is freshly shaven so try maybe doing it a few days before your date or if not, at least buzz it up a bit.

you definitely don't want to show up with your winter fur everywhere.. it is a first date but what if you end up going home with them? you don't really want stuff on your scruff, you understand?

imho.

first impressions count!

When you are just getting to know her, clean yourself up a bit.

You don't look bad with scruff, but not on the first few dates.

You can dress a little scruffy, alternative if that's how you naturally are (but clean clothes, body)

Just don't look like you just rolled out of bed and make her feel she's not important enough to clean up for.

Depends, on the girl and what your "image projection".

What is the scenario? Do you need to display you know what your doing? if thats the case I whould trim a bit. Otherwise I whould shave.

To stay nice and clean I shave every 3rd day.

I just hope when you do shave you put enought moisture after your finsished and shave in the direction the hair grows.

I know I'm paying the price for not putting enought moisture.
