A Festivus for the rest of us! Has anyone gotten their metal poles yet? ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

It's a Seinfeld reference. George didn't want to buy Christmas gifts at work, so he gave everyone cards saying that a donation has been given in their name to the Human Fund. He made the charity up. Then his boss actually made a company donation to it, but they found no record of it. George confessded and then said he did it because he didn't feel his coworkers would understand that he doesn't celebrate Christmas. They celebrate Festivus. He made that up also, but then his dad loved the idea. So his boss insisted on coming over for dinner to see if it's true. They buy a metal pole instead of a tree (no decorations). And they sit around the dinner table and say what they hate about each other. Then George's dad wrestles with him and makes him give up. All part of the Festivus tradition.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." I might have actually seen that episode! Seinfeld was never my favorite though (I preferred "Raymond" ). You tell a story well, Randall! IP: Logged |

You know, pole = no decorations? Tall as a tree with no fake decorations on it? Just the lights (see photo above)! IP: Logged |

I meant I literally didn't get a pole for the Festivus 'cause Randall was asking peeps "Has anyone gotten their metal poles yet? " ------------------ "I am not absentminded. It is the presence of mind that makes me unaware of everything else." ― G.K. Chesterton
