It seems like the tides are turning with my stance on marraige - I never believed in it and never thought a piece of paper is needed to show a commitment. I have never looked at the other side of the coin - which is odd cause usually I like to know both sides of the coin and stay neutral. Maybe it was the Nov 25th eclipse that touched my Venus in Pisces square Neptune/Jupiter square that triggered things off and maybe I have been holding off from making my relationship deeper with marriage. Except for legal reasons such as HIPPA and all......
rapidly losing my liking for the concept/practice.
Once most men think you are theirs completely,
they do not treat you as well from then on.

Happily unmarried and don't plan on getting married.  Nothing against happily married people though. I think it's great. They actually get me teary eyed sometimes. I don't want what they have, but I think it's beautiful to see two people make it work.  IP: Logged |

It's the love behind it. At a weddiing you can feel that...then there are people who are doing it because they think that's what they are supposed to do at their age or whatever....It's nice when you witness a union of two people who are truly in love. I'm not a sappy person at all, but do get teary on the rare occasion I get to see true love in bloom or motion. IP: Logged |

Marriage has many benefits, such as getting on your partner's insurance, getting partner's bennies, social security bennies, tax bennies, and more. (Of course the wrong partner could screw over your credit rating and finances and make you liable for bills, too...)It's also good if your partner is hospitalized as it allows you to see them when you otherwise not be able to and to make medical decisions and sign for them. Should one of you be imprisoned, then sometimes only a spouse can see the imprisoned beside a lawyer. (And btw, you don't have to do anything wrong to be imprisoned.) Of course these benefits (and more) often don't belong to gays in domestic partnerships, especially if they leave the state they got semi-married in. However, many states allow first cousins to marry and they do get full bennies with full recognition in other states, even those that don't allow first cousins to marry. IP: Logged |

I don't really care about marriage. I'm already in one as far as I'm concerned. He even bought me a cheap little old ring I fell in love with online so I can wear it on my hand to show that I'm his. I personally think it's cute because, as my favorite ex-boss once said, "it ain't that deep." I am his... and he his mine. We are each others. I DO care about my wedding. I go back and forth because I'm very frugal, but I'm pretty sure my Libra Moon is going ALL OUT. It is going to be RIDICULOUS. That is the biggest clincher for me - get stuck with his debt. If I didn't put myself in debt, then I had better not be paying for another's debt. If that made sense......My partner owes several thousand on a line of credit, that I wouldn't want to haunt me. Myself, I'm not in debt and only owe the monthly bills. IP: Logged |

marriage is tricky for me. marriage = visa. i'm not planning to go back to the country where i was born, i almost know no one there and i speak the language poorly, and i don't understand the culture and people there. i'm the same as a foreigner and they think i'm foreign anyway. it's fine for sightseeing, but not to live.so i am always, legally foreign wherever i go. i need to have a visa to stay anywhere. when i am in a relationship, it's always plagued by the back thought "if he really loves me he'll marry me". and so far it has destroyed every relationship. probably not only because of this, but it dampened the romance to a certain degree every time. i feel disgusted that i cannot just have a light-hearted sweet romance. otherwise marriage would not mean much to me. if i love someone, i stay with him. it's simple. but international laws don't like lovers being together just because they want to, so whatever! It's funny because the legal and religious "benefits" are the exact reasons to why I don't support contractual unions/marriages. And other reasons I'm disgusted by the practice of marriage are related to perpetuating false illusions, commercialism, materialism, conventionalism and propaganda. I'm a lover through and through but I don't support the exploitation of love in favor of profit and systematization in order to organize the masses. Classifying and organizing the masses makes it easier to control them, as if people need to be controlled by a superior power (church or central government). Marriages are a legal and religious practice and a very lucrative market in the economy, profit, profit, profit! IP: Logged |
