i was a bit depressed that our pasta costs almost twice as much (my staple food!), coffee price has almost busted the roof and i have been drinking instant for months now, and butter is also twice as much as a few years ago. a big inflation is in store. but i thought of this. during the depression era, entertainers played happy songs of optimism to keep the population's hopes up. this is my favourite song from 1930. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL0Qt7IF8Q4 and here's a charming 96-year old grandma's YouTube channel where she reenacts the 30s kitchen. she's great, and her stories are not depressing at all. http://www.youtube.com/user/DepressionCooking with the holidays and the new year coming up, i thought we can enter 2012 with a renewed hope and good feeling, because collective optimism = good direction. if you have something uplifting that can help blow away the grim mood in the world, please share! I'm glad I'm worth a lot as I just don't feel so secure with such a low price on my head. IP: Logged |

I'm afraid what people need in order to get cheered up again is new governments, not just a song. There's so much selfishness right now. Some people make money at the expense of other people's wages and pensions. My Jup in Libra wants justice. Erm, sorry, not exactly the cheer-up material you asked for! LOL IP: Logged |

oh you party pooper! well, i meant this as something we do for ourselves. on a private level. i'm a wanderer perpetually moving around (though it's time to settle in one continent at least!), i am at the threshold of government rules. my woe is inter-governmental laws. me personally cannot wait for the world to become border-less to cheer up. some people have always gained at the expense of other people. it didn't happen just now, but has always been there, always reinventing itself as times change. but we cannot let it ruin our day and live in misery, while we work on making changes. cheering up doesn't mean staying oblivious to bothersome things in the world. i can bake 5 delicious baguettes out of 45-cent bag of plain flour, which enriches my life rather than lamenting at the 50 cents package of spaghetti on the supermarket shelf. that's kind of what this thread is meant to be. I know I know... just had no place where to put my whining, I guess, and found an opp when I saw this string. I don't like to argue about politics because I don't believe in politics. So going to post on the GU forum wouldn't help me. LOL You are absolutely right that we need to focus on the small things to get in a better emotional state... God knows, that's my only respite these days. When my heart is grateful, I know I'm in the right (happiness) path. Anything can help; friends, a song, a joke, a touch, a sunset, a baby, a dog, a cat, I love life (Sag Sun here lol). I just have to keep hoping for the best! IP: Logged |

the problem of inflation spreads across the globe.. the only cheerup i have is the hefty Christmas Bonus coming my way .. bottom line, should i save most of it for my trip to Greece in summer or should i do the hasty thing and blow it on a new i-phone.. hmmmm i must consult my saturn. ------------------ "I dwell in the midst of a perfect race, I the most imperfect.." I recently got a job working with plants and trees and etc in a garden centre, after being unemployed for a Long time.!Its something I really like to do & with all the Earth in my chart it resonates with me.. Anyway, to get to my point.. We had to make up these stands for all the Christmas trees on sale to display and all the little birds like the wrens, robins and sparrows have moved in and I'm sure they are thinking "Wow! where did this forest suddenly appear from?" Also I have been secretly placing food for them under the tree displays, so that they won't go hungry during the cold weather. Its a small thing to care for nature, but its also one of the biggest things one can ever do. IP: Logged |

I heard from Linda Goodman that Capricorns have a plan since they were five years old with thier backpack on thier backs. And they have a smile and maybe a sense of humour like did they actually smile at you.IP: Logged |
