URGH! Why oh why do SOME people have no clue what "appointment" means?! I had this meeting for today, right? The guy is busy. He had picked Monday (today) for the meeting and I know his office hrs so I called earlier to ask if we're still good for X hr. He responded right as I was getting out the door for a looooooong commute to his office to say "Poop, I'm too busy today. Can we make it [another day]" OK, I did NOT mind the change of plans that much as what followed. Me: -OK, what time on [another day]? Him: -I'll be in my office from 7am to 3pm Me: !@@#$#$^%& Do I call this doofus back and explain what the word "appointment" means?! It's *especially* when I'm busy that I want to reserve specific spots in my day for specific events/meetings/people etc. I know he's not trying to avoid me. It's perhaps the sloppy cultural thing here (I live in a country that resembles my professional culture as much as Venus resembles Mars). I'm really tempted to respond: -What time do you have lunch? I'd like to avoid showing up while you are stuffing your face. GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRant over. Help! PS: Background; spent YEARS in the corporate America and I have learned to be a professional and respectful of my and anyone else's time. I'm no longer part of corporate anything but I guess that part of the job has stayed with me. I am a SN Virgo with Pluto in Virgo conj my SN. It's part of me to treat people with respect when it comes to professionalism and clear communication. I hate to waste my time or theirs. I have moderated that A LOT since I left the corporate environment but it's still there. And a related anecdote: Before I knew my correct TOB, I was a Cappie ASC by the TOB that I was using! I thought that made me so professional in my make-up. But now that I know I'm an Aqua Rising, I know it's my Virgoness....

im curious which country it is. but regardless of country, for him to indicate you show up for him is very rude. he could have said the same thing in a different way in my opinion. me personally would be kind of glad that i can go any time i want instead of having an appointment, but only if he was apologetic for the "inconvenience" to make me fit into his schedule! Well, he gave me a wide window (from 7am to 3pm ) so I guess he might see no need to be apologetic. I think he might be feeling "friendly" with me. This is for business but we are about the same age and he's an admin in a research institute where I'm a researcher and there is mutual respect/admiration (not to add, necessary mutual acceptance/tolerance) so perhaps he feels OK to respond casually like this. It's just that I *explicitly* asked what time is best and I would HATE to go there any time only to find he's in the bathroom or out to lunch or out for coffee or at someone else's office or some such! When you are asked for a specific time appointment, it;s rude NOT to give one. It means exactly what you said "I don't care; just look for me when you're here." IP: Logged |

One of many such cancelled "appointments" I detest is: Go to a doctor because tests indicate possibility of cancer. The appointment was deemed an emergency BY THE DOCTOR LAST DECEMBER 2010 (Ex to be missed work and pay, to take me to it and also waited) So I go to it, sit 2 hours and 45 minutes, waiting waiting waiting....... keep asking every 1/2 hour what the hold up is, and hear, "anytime, sorry". They never came out to waiting room to give me update. Then after 2 hours and 45 minutes I ask again, only to be told; "You will have to reschedule". Huh??????????????????? So I reschedule, and earliest appointment I can get is July 2011. ???????????????? Then 15 minutes before I am about to go to that appointment, I get a call, "you will have to reschedule." ???????????????? So I did for last day of October 2011, and still had to wait an hour. Then she only does a pap, not the biopsies she said I needed to rule out uterine cancer. She said she is only allowed one proceedure per visit and the biopsies would have to wait. Huh?????????????? It was already nearly a year since the tests said I needed the biopsies done to rule out cancer! So here I am, No appointment because I cannot undergo the general anesthesia for the D&C she wants to do. She refused to do the biopsies as before, under local. So here I am, wondering, hurting, things not right, and no forward motion on anything. I even had to sign a damn form saying I refused the D&C. ???????????????? I did not refuse! I said no general anesthesia, which even she agreed was too risky for me. Arrrgghhhh! So now in limbo, trying to get appointment, but it is not just her, it is them all. And the nearest other ones are about an hour away. It is hard enough with being disabled to keep appointments (I cannot predict when I will be bed bound)....... but all the cancelling on their parts is maddening! Rant over for now. Grrrrsss. Oh yeah, btw; If I were to cancel without giving 24 hour warning, they charge me! Even though they know I only cancel if I cannot get out of bed or house due to my body not working! IP: Logged |

Lexx that cant be right!! cant u send a legal complaint or something, it comes close to heart because i work at a medical center, we get over booked all the time but it never gets to that point! critical patients are always a priority!.. if you have the option change hospital/doctor, find someplace more professional!! *hope the tests only bring good news! I can sympathize with your medical issues lexx. I see this a lot with medical insurance. I'm not in that field but it seems if you do not have insurance or c**p insurance (because they're all so expensive) you're at the end of the line (and the line is always full)any chance of an upgrade? I support Health Care Reform...yes Obama (please don't transfer this to GU) IP: Logged |

and this is why i hate doctors..........my mom would go through the same things...shes in pain a lot and sometimes it gets so unbearable we have to go to the hospital....we have literally sat in the waiting room for like 3 and half hours....then my mom just said screw it and we left------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |
