1903: Thomas Edison stages his highly publicized electrocution of an elephant in order to demonstrate the dangers of alternating current, which, if it posed any immediate danger at all, was to Edison’s own direct current.Edison had established direct current at the standard for electricity distribution and was living large off the patent royalties, royalties he was in no mood to lose when George Westinghouse and Nicola Tesla showed up with alternating current. Ba$tard Edison murdered many animals not just an elephant. 
Edison's only original "invention" was the ELECTRIC CHAIR!!
In order to prove that AC electricity was better for executions, Brown and Edison killed many animals, dogs, cats, horses, by the thousands,
including a circus elephant, while testing their prototypes. They also held executions of animals for the press in order to ensure that AC current was associated with electrocution. It was at these events that the term electrocution was coined. Most of their experiments were conducted at Edison's West Orange, New Jersey, laboratory in 1888.Hell is too good for that creep. ------------------
