I'm not quite sure where to post this topic, since I'm not asking about my health, only for appearance purposes.Think Leah Remini (115lbs/ 5'3) before and after she lost the baby weight. Or another actress... Do you think it looks too boney? IP: Logged |

I think it's the ideal weight for this height. If you were 5 9' and 110lbrs, that would be "bony". IP: Logged |

Nah, I'm 5'9'' and was 120lbs a couple of years back. My Mom's 5'2'' and has hovered between 100 and 110 for most of her life. 5'3'' and 110's fine. IP: Logged |

how short? ---------- also i think BMI works aesthetically too provided you aren't an extreme case like a body builder or someone just really naturally genetically thin. i barely make it. http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm IP: Logged |

Thanks everybody! I just wanted to be sure, lol. This site says it will take me 11 months and 20 days to be 115lbs by reducing my caloric intake by 300 per day (1700). I just can't do the 500 reduction rate...I've tried and it sucks! With 1700, I may feel peckish at the end of the day, but its better than feeling deprived. Thanks again for chiming in :-) http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_loss.php IP: Logged |

No, I meant, you had mentioned that you consider yourself short. 5 10' is not a short man for sure! In other words, it fits me right.

Depends too on bone structure and muscle mass. My base lean mass at 5 ft. 3 in. is about 150 pounds. One should have some body fat on top of lean mass. My frame shoulder wise is very large and the rest dense boned even though smaller framed. So I am best looking at betwixt 175 and 190, but feel best at about 210. Have a ways to go yet to get back down. Have lost 140 though already. However if you are all over petite and not heavily muscled, then it sounds like your weight is good for you. ------------------ Anyone can come into your life and say how much they love you. One other thing: have you checked with your doctor?He/she should be able to tell you where you should be. IP: Logged |

A doctor or a good gym should have Electrical Impedance testing equipment. That test will be able to give you a very good idea of YOUR perfect weight. http://www.dh.org/body.cfm?id=1023 The test is usually only about $25 and is fast and I have had it done a few times. I highly recommend it. The weight charts simply do not work for me. The weight the charts say I should be at, would require me to lose fat, and then, some 55 to 70 pounds of lean mass/muscle.So do not trust those standard charts if you want the best weight analysis. I think you're on the skinnier side, but definitely not too thin. You can always check your BMI if you're worried: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ Calculators aren't the most accurate, but it gives you a good ballpark answer. IP: Logged |

Though if you use BMI, here's a grain of salt to take it with: http://www.annekeckler.com/whats-wrong-with-bmi/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18043813/ns/health-fitness/t/when-determining-whos-fat-bmi-bunk/ http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106268439 I recall when a PE coach put our entire class through this, and EVERY girl was overweight save me and another (which makes me wonder if the epidemic of obesity isn't greatly exaggerated through BMI results). Yet the "healthy" girl was anorexic (I don't know of any details that might've changed her score), and I was under doctor's orders to gain weight at the time because I didn't have enough body fat to enter puberty (though in my case, in retrospect, I'm aware that I had a lot of muscle from athletic hobbies and a lot of farm labor, and muscle weighs more than normal fat, something BMI doesn't account for and maybe why it misread me). So you can understand why I've been less than impressed with BMI. And going by those links I posted you can also be overweight and yet score too low, too. IP: Logged |
