Hi everybody This is just a lil' suggestion.. I keep noticing people getting confused over the gender of the other person and hence find it difficult to address them sometimes. Is there a reason why there's no gender specification in LL? IP: Logged |

It's the same reason why you have a username vs your real name. If you wish to share your real name, fine. But the site doesn't require your real name for reasons of privacy. Same with age. Same with gender/sex. If you wish to address a user, simply use their username. IP: Logged |

The only times I want to know gender is when I am Lexigramming a person's name; and when discussing sexual issues, and orientation.

Anons suggestion is a good one Personally I never care about gender. Under the skin, we`re all genderless Spirit anyhow ! ------------------ Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi~ IP: Logged |

I agree with anongrl I was just curious as to why this option wasn't available. I'm pretty sure it would have been considered while building the forum, right? And how would it be a privacy concern? Do you mean to say that people would tend to make judgements about you by knowing your gender? ( I ask this very honestly, not threatingly )IP: Logged |

Yes. It's all under the umbrella of anonymity. Of course many members hang around here so frequently that they become good friends off the board. But the board itself must protect everyone regardless of sex, religion, national or other background. And no worries about your question. IP: Logged |

i'v wondered why we dont have a gender thingy too...i often say he or she when the person is really the other gender....like redscorp, i thought that was a girl...but its not......lolbut because i often dont know the gender of someone, i want to call them with a nongender specific word like "it" as i did with redscorps example (i said "that") ------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

randall can make a "gender" thing like he did "location" so that we can choose what to say------------------ I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate? when organic is used to describe food then you know we have come to a dark age in history IP: Logged |

just assume everyone is a girl since you'd be correct more times than not.or ad man/woman/holmes/chief/brah to your name. IP: Logged |
