The path discussed here is spirituality from the East which is a sacred tradition, certain aspects must be kept out of the reach of humor, after all, this bliss is so far deeper than a good laugh. Actually its so much more (than a 'put on'), its a conspiracy to plant idiocrasy and hedonism, spiritual negation in the minds of the masses. To destroy the potent power of their spiritual self, to degrade it, to caricaturize it, so no truth can ever be obtained and an individual begins to doubt his spiritual journey. The mind must be silent, the body a slave to the higher consciousness and then only can we reach dhyana, then samadhi. Trust me at that stage It is a plot to defame and heathenize age old "sacred" traditions.

I think he needs to develop a sense of humor (or at least realize it's not important enough to rend his garments over).

While the caricature does remind me of people I've met, I don't take it seriously. Sure, you can find new agers (and what Wiccans call "fluff bunnies") who are somewhat like that, but they seem as rare as Christians waving GOD HATES FAGS signs or trying to convince everyone the Earth is only 5,000 years old. Come to think of it, I see that "tebowing" fad as silly as that new ager.

Granted, I believe Sturgeon's Law applies to people as much as stories, but that specific vid still struck me as so over the top as to not be worth serious commentary. And as for people who are just shallow (or even downright silly as in the vid), how does that impact anyone else's spiritual growth? As long as they're not hurting anyone I don't care.
