I hear from many folks in the UK..... Oh bad bad America, SOPA and all. Yes, the allegations are revoltingly true.However. Beware. Better go look in your own back yards before it is too late. What are YOU being prevented from seeing in your own lands, whilst you gape and guffaw at fuqked up America? I will not argue with any UK folks about this. Yes America has serious problems but so does the UK and I personally suspect they are maybe just better at hiding it from their loyal citizens all pumped up on their various countries' pride. So go on, ignore the man behind the curtain, keep your eyes and anger on America. That is the plan. Keep watching the aszholes we here hate too, and before you know it, you will look behind you, and go, OMFG! When did this happen to my beloved >insert your UK country of choice< The planet is fuqked.

The storms are global not just America.... beware naivete` I at least admit this country is a mess. However I am sick of hearing from many folks how perfect they believe their countries are. Sorry but you are as fuqked up as we are just not in exactly the same ways. And do you honestly think the shite going on in America will not through big business deals or whatever, infect your countries? So keep watching us and ignore your own wtf is going on you ignore or do not know about. ------------------

Well I certainly didn't see SOPA as an American problem, It was a global issue as far as I'm concerned. Although when it is often that the most powerful nation sets the presidence for policy around the globe, one can understand peoples directed anger at the good old U S of A...------------------ Proud Member of the Vatican Assassin Warlock Attack Squad! I think this every time a person from the UK goes on and on about American racism and ignores xenophobia and islamophobia in their own country.IP: Logged |

Come on lets face it, america is fuqked.UK is shyte but by no means comparable to the US. 'sets the presidence for policy around the globe'......................delusions of grandeur, perhaps? In fact every Nation in the world has their flaws; however, the fundamental difference why the USA gets most of the stick is because they promote themselves as super humanitarians and that 'sh!t don't stink', when in reality, your sh!t really does stink. I'm from the US, for what it's worth. Frankly, I don't really get upset when people point out problems that the US has, as long as they would do the same for their own countries too/as long as they would be objective and fair. Judging from the comments that I see from UK people on UK sites/articles, they will complain just as much about the UK as the US. As long as it doesn't spill over into a hate rant and as long as it's not based on bigotry or prejudice, I don't think that this is offensive. Example: saying that you are against the war in Iraq would not offend me, and neither would saying that the system of education needs to be improved/that there needs to be higher standards there--I'd agree on those points. Saying, however, that all Americans are stupid or uneducated would annoy me, as would saying that you simply hate all Americans. There are good and bad people and good and bad policies in every country. I also don't think that it's "unpatriotic" or "treason" to point out problems that you would like to see solved. I see it as the opposite: you care enough to want to make a place that you care about even better. When Americans criticize things about America, it doesn't bug me unless people are annoying, obnoxious, or extremist about it, or if it's approached unintelligently. I guess that I just don't take it personally if people criticize things about the US. After all, I am not where I live: I'm just one person living there. They aren't criticizing me personally (unless a sweeping generalization is made, like the ones that I mentioned above as examples), they're criticizing the place in which I live. Yes, I'm sure that there are anti-American Europeans, just like there are anti-European Americans. However, I don't feel that pointing out a problem that exists in America is being anti-American. It's being anti-that issue/anti-that problem. And, as I said, most Europeans that I have personally known will also point out the good and bad of their own countries. I've never had any problems with people from the UK. IP: Logged |

Reminds me of people in the USA coming down on human rights abuses while ignoring such abuses within the US and in US allies, rending their garments over child sex tourism while denying the sexual violence, abuse, and child prostitution that is epidemic in these United States, and going on about how free we are when we have more laws and people in prison than any other nation (including the Islamic and Communist ones) with a TSA that has scandalize people I know from countries like Argentina, and even China criticizes our human rights abuses, invasion of privacy, and militancy (hypocrisy on their part, but no more than hypocrisy on our part when the United States blasts China for similar reasons). In short, those UK blokes sound a lot like us (and probably every other country in the world, especially the powerful ones). IP: Logged |
