Pictures are fine. When you append the links here to show up as photos, you have essentially appended the link. Anyone can see it by clicking on "edit" in your post. So no worries if they are not yours! Text is different because you can quote it without the original source ever showing anywhere; so you need to add the link along with the text.
Makes sense?
