They have a new trailer here: http://mockingjay.net/

Is anyone else looking forward to this? I liked the books (although, as usual, the love triangle bored me). It comes out when the Sun is conjunct Uranus in Aries.

I liked the books a lot, they were so different from Twilight and Harry Potter.

I preferred them over Twilight, as well. The trailer gave me goosebumps. I hope the movie is good.

A new Twilight trailer will be on the movie. And it might be the first seven minutes of the movie (like on the Eclipse DVD).

I wasn't there for the trailers. I was briefly at the bookstore, and then running around trying to find tea (before going back to the bookstore, because the garage didn't have any hot water...). We should have stayed and relaxed for fifteen minutes. At least we bought our tickets earlier.

I was disappointed by the rushing, and the usual deleting of some parts of the book. It also seemed like they weren't in the arena anywhere near long enough; they were supposed to come out of there almost dead from hunger, dehydration, freezing weather, etc.

I remembered later on, though, that the author wrote the screenplay, and she wanted to make sure that it would be PG-rated. So maybe they couldn't make things look as bad on-screen as they were in the book (aside from children killing children, that is).

Yeah they had to edit out the actually violent parts. I found it a little...boring, in comparison to the books. I did like how the Capitol was portrayed, Caesar Flickerman's character especially.

I've just read responses from fans of the books, who are up in arms over several characters having been black. What the hell? They're especially insulting the actress who played Rue, of all people - that little angel.

Paraphrasing Jon Stewart...

There are black people in your movies because black people are also consumers of them

ETA: I haven't read the books but have heard a lot of praise about them regarding Katniss and how she is a wilful young woman with her own agency quite the opposite of Twilight's Bella.

I was just saying something similar to my mother. My aunt has been trying to get her to read Twilight, and run out and buy the movies, and I know she would hate them. Bella doesn't even come close to Katniss - she wasn't fleshed out that much beyond her love for a family of vampires. It's been three/four years since I read the books, but she doesn't compare. The character actually inspired me a bit, in terms of just getting on with things, her smarts, and with the things she excels at, like archery, and self-sufficiency. I think she makes a great role model.

I watched a bootleg copy at my friend's house. Not bad. I might read the book.
