Tristan and Yvaine in Stardust. Flynn & Rapunzel in Tangled. The lesbian couple Tina and Bette in The L Word (dysfunctional as it often was, it was still beautiful and compelling for me). Xena and Gabrielle in Xena. Kim and Richard/Mairelon in The Magician's Ward. And though I'm sure it would be controversial to many who know what story I'm referring to (pretty much the same in both book and movie), Rynn and Mario in The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane.

Honorable mention to Schmendrick & Molly who get together in the end of The Last Unicorn. Another to Jess and Leslie in Bridge to Terabithia (2007 film) even though they were too young and innocent for romantic love...yet their relationship was so beautiful (though in reality if they managed to grow up together and enter into a romantic relationship I'd fear disaster for them sooner or later, another reason I only list them as an honorable mention).

I'd also include multiple relationships in the "Whedonverse" (shows like Buffy, Firefly, etc) but true love ALWAYS ends in tragedy (typically the horrible and often senseless death of one of them). My favorite from there is a rough tie between Willow & Tara in BtVS and Wash & Zoe in Firefly.

I've noticed that the common theme is 2 characters from very different backgrounds and perspectives (and often personality as well) who both become much more than they are as an individual when they bond together in true love in a way that complements each other rather than at the expense of one or the other. Perhaps that's my Libra sun, Venus, and Pluto manifesting.

I refuse to accept the events of "Serenity".
Wash was not impaled.
Didn't happen.

I cry so much when I watch this absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching love story of Bicentennial Man.

Bicentennial Man - Then You Look At Me

Do not watch this part if you do not want to know the ending.

The Bicentennial Man Ending.

And then there's this which has been making the rounds:

I posted this a while back on Facebook, and a few of our friends said, "Aww! It's you and _____!"

I hope so

Whilst not a couple,
the TRUE STORY
of Mary and Max
is heart wrenchingly beautiful!
I am crying just watching the trailer and remembering the story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgRjB8PEDkM

Has anybody here read Reincarnation by Suzanne Weyn? It's a lovely book! The protagonists in the book travel from one life to another & keep meeting each other over & over
I love that couple, especially a Greek life that they both live. It's a beautiful story

I didn't watch Serenity, Buffy, Felicity, Gilmore Girls, etc, when they were on. I spent too much time on the internet, and wish I'd watched them when they were on.

teasel, It`s obvious from my choices I don`t pay attention to the tube either. I`m a classics reading person instead...

In fact, I have never heard of most couples mentioned.
