No and that is messed up. He was going to hire you if you're gay. I wouldn't even care about that job or worry at all that I wasn't getting a job there. Obviously he's gay and desperately looking for a convenient lay. Gross. He could have STD's or HIV you just never know. Do not even feel bad you didn't get the job.

If he somehow managed to contact me at 4 AM I'd have let him know what hours I consider appropriate for a stranger to contact me. Then I'd ask him what business it is of his. And if he was a guy I'd probably be snarky (and say this whether he knew my gender or not) and tell him if he wants to get with a guy try Grindr and leave me alone.

I can't really guess his motivations, but part of me suspect he was just trying to be annoying for the lulz because he was bored. But people are weird and can become stalkerish pretty easy so I don't know.

I've dealt with all kinds of stalkerish and creepy behavior including online, though I haven't experienced what you have specifically. Some of it was much worse, like a guy who tried to trick me into giving my address after I said I disagreed about our being soul mates and for him to stop trying to meet me IRL. Another threatened to rape me and chop me up with an ax (though he didn't know where I lived), and that was after I stood up for him (I have no idea what set him off, though he admitted to having a meth habit). I've also dealt with creepy behavior on the job as well (or even just out walking), so what you experienced strikes me as a minor annoyance, and a reason for you to be glad you're a guy if this is creeps you out because for many women it gets much worse.

You're kidding me right?
If ANYBODY called me at 4am to ask me such a question, they would meet the signal of a dead line as I would hang up and go back to sleep.

Why did you feel you need to inform a complete stranger about your sexual orientation? They were way out of line to look at your private data and call you in the middle of the night but you don't need to respond to any idiot just because they are related to your job application! LOL

This is an invasion of your privacy and should be reoprted to the owner/manager of the store ASAP. This fella may be why the store needs help; he is running off the qualified applicants.

You would be compounding the stores problem IF you do not report it.

Has texting actually made an entire generation completely STUPID? In what world is that EVER not a criminal offense? If he shows up at your door, will you report it then, or just share in a little kitschy conversation? Your address is on your application too. And your social security number. This is not just a little weird... it is HORRIFYING. What occurred was a VIOLATION and needs to be reported IMMEDIATELY.

I'm sorry to hard on you but allowing this sort of thing AT ALL makes this world a more dangerous place for my child and her children in the future. You have the number that called you and you know the place you applied and it is absolutely imperative that demand to make a report with the police and demand that company be contacted and have your information and application removed. You have a responsibility to the rest of us to make a big stinking deal out of this.

If you do report this to the police, let us know if anything comes of it. Frankly, I'll be pleasantly surprised if they so much as even bother to question anyone at the store. (But then maybe they'll take this kind of harassment more seriously if done by a man against another man...or you could live in a jurisdiction that actually tries doing its job even when they're not likely to reap individual benefits from it.)

I'm also curious what reporting this to the company will do.

i wont be reporting it,because come to find out a girl i had worked with at another place had given him my number and told him i was bi,and i know he was telling the truth because he told me her name and it was a girl i had worked with and theres no way he could have known that otherwise ,because i didnt tell him.i am puzzled as to why she would do that as i barely knew her and had never given her reason to act in such a way

Did he ever explain why he called you at such a time and demanded to know your orientation? Did you ask?

What he did is not normal or acceptable behavior (whatever your orientation). Doing it as a joke is messed up enough, doing it for any other reason is...well, as you said yourself, creepy at best. I can't help but wonder what the hell he was thinking.
