Started playing again. It is an interesting study of the human psyche, being forced to depend upon personalities in a virtual world.

Interesting dynamics to accomplish anything.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EverQuest

EverQuest (EQ), is a 3D fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that was released on the 16th of March, 1999. The original design is credited to Brad McQuaid, Steve Clover, and Bill Trost. It was developed by Sony's 989 Studios and its early-1999 spin-off Verant Interactive, and published by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE).

I am playing only on the Project99 Blue (PVE) Server. Minus the cost of the cd's, its free to play. Good server population.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Dalnir

The Crypt of Dalnir is the hidden burial tomb of Dalnir, the ancient Haggle Baron of the City of Cabilis. Recently, however, the Kly have taken over the tomb and expanded it for their own, currently unknown, purposes. The poor creatures who have fallen under their sway protect the upper floors while they continue their experiments in the tunnels below.

----------------------------------

Each class has a heavy learning curve, I will leave it at that. Ah hell that whole game is hard.

I have a level 21 Gnome Necromancer named Bonebrain currently.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Necromancer

Necromancers are the masters of death and undeath, and utilize fire, poison, disease, magic and corruption magics to overcome their foes. Their choice to purvey the necromantic arts has alienated them from most old-world civilization - in many places they are killed on sight and not allowed to buy or sell. As such, the necromancer is forced to be a highly independant class - very few support classes can enhance the necromancer arsenal, and items/gear do not provide the same benefits to their Damage over Time spells as they do for other classes that utilize instant magics.

Necromancers are also considered one of the 3 "pet classes" as they have undead pets to do their bidding from very early levels. Of the pet classes (magician, necromancer), necromancer pets are moderately weaker due in large part the inability to support them as well as magicians. The Necromancer pet can be equipped with magician-summoned gear to dramatically improve their survivability & capabilities. The necromancer has two pet varieties - a warrior and a rogue. The warrior has slightly better survivability but reduced dps compared to the rogue (which requires proper positioning at the rear of targets to allow backstabbing). *They also get a Skeletal Monk (Flying Kick) at level 56, could be wrong.*

*Yeah this guy,

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Servant_of_Bones

I have camped this bard for a couple levels now.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Cordelia_Minster

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/6-Minute_Bard_Diet

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Northern_Plains_of_Karana

The Northern Plains of Karana consist of a small but dangerous area in the middle of the vast Plains of Karana. It is also the hub of most of the traffic on the western half of the continent, as it marks the area where the bridges from the east and south pass over the river that marks two of its borders. *I am sitting beside that river in the above photo*

She is in this zone. She spawns at the wizard spires, #11 on the map.

I also have a much lower level Gnome Wizard, Brainblast.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Wizard

Wizards are the most single-minded of spell casters, with the majority of their spells dedicated to delivering massive amounts of damage as rapidly as possible. To aid in their constant search for power, wizard have also perfected the art of teleportation - allowing them to instantly transport themselves and their allies to the most remote corners of Norrath and beyond.

Wizards are a tightly focused class, gaining the greatest ability to deal magical damage in exchange for limited variety in their spell selection. Wizards are capable adventurers both solo and in groups, and are an excellent choice for players who live to blow things up.

Wizard Spires (teleportation area)

----------------------

Take everything but the graphics, update them to Skyrim specs.

Use the same zone layouts but make them much much larger and filled with more things.

More dungeons per zone.

Only 2 Servers, PVE or PVP and everyone from around the world has to play on either like they currently do now with P99.

Interesting seeing the euro guilds and what not about. More diversity.

I also think the ACRE mic system that binds your mic voice to your characters is a great built in idea. The character's mouth moves when you talk. You can still use the keyboard chat to talk across zones with /tell etc etc. *Mic is better for dungeon camping*

Mistmoore Castle.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Mistmoore_Castle

Castle Mistmoore is the stronghold of the ancient dark elf vampire, Mayong Mistmoore, and his throngs of followers. The castle itself has vast, mazelike corridors and secret areas, hidden away from prying eyes.

Castle Mistmoore is filled from one end to the other with dark elves in thrall of their lord and undead raised and controlled by him. Since Mayong Mistmoore considers all to be his enemies, everyone who enters here will be attacked viciously and relentlessly by his followers. Dark elves and other creatures roam the castle during the day, and at night the undead rise to roam the castle, replacing many of the daytime creatures. Invisibility works on the daytime monsters, and invisibility vs. undead only on the undead creatures.

Although dangerous, this zone is arguably some of the best experience for any zone in the game, assuming you don't die frequently within.

Went on a small trip today,

Friendly druid in levitating wolf form(he had a charmed griffon) was nice enough to teleport me to my home city.

Steamfont Druid Ring.
http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Steamfont_Mountains

The Steamfont Mountains are a very dangerous place, probably the most dangerous area on Faydwer that you might find yourself travelling on your own. It is a relatively large zone with several distinct areas, and only one newbie type of area some distance from the gnome city, Ak'Anon. Most of the areas of these mountains are filled with creatures deadly to someone of less than 6th level.

The gnomes like to Tinker*.. the city reflects that.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Ak%27Anon

Ak'Anon is an ancient city, built into the edge of the mountains long ago by the gnomes who call it home. Half fortress and half laboratory, the gnomes have been developing their clockwork machines and defenses here for generations, and show no signs of stopping. In ages past, the gnomes were so powerful as to defy the gods and build their own clockwork dragon to protect the city, but when it went rogue, it was either imprisoned far beneath the city or banished to another land. Eons have passed since, however, and the truth of the gnomes prior glory may never be known.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Greater_Faydark

Greater Faydark is one of the largest and most confusing regions in all of the world of Norrath. It is quite large, and also has the added bonus of being dark at all times with few landmarks to tell where you are at any given time. It is the home of the wood elves, and is also the newbie area for the wood elves, high elves, and half elves that start out in Kelethin and Felwithe. It is also very near the homes of both the dwarves and the gnomes, so many members of those races are seen here as well.

Greater Faydark Wizard Spires

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Butcherblock_Mountains

Butcherblock is a massive zone, one of several large zones on the continent of Faydwer. It lies between Greater Faydark and the Ocean of Tears, and holds the docks for the boat leaving to Freeport on its edge. The dwarven city of Kaladim is one of the impressive sites in this region, and many tall ridges separate this region up into areas that are almost zones unto themselves.

BBM dock, waiting for the ocean ship going to Freeport.

"West of the huge statue that signifies the home of the dwarves is the dock, where you can catch the very infrequent boat to Freeport (don't miss it!). Listen for cries of "boat!!" and stay close, as the wait is long and painful. Also, shuttles leave there for the lost continent of Kunark. "

On the ship about to depart.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Ocean_of_Tears

The Ocean of Tears is a vast expanse of water that lies between the continents of Antonica and Faydwer. A boat makes frequent trips between the Butcherblock Mountains and Freeport, taking travelers of all types over the ocean.

The vast expanses of ocean are punctuated with many small, isolated islands (hence the name, Ocean of Tears, as if the islands were tear drops). Each of these islands is a world unto itself, and the intrepid explorer can travel between them by using canoes that are pulled up on the shores of some of the more populated islands.

*Druid/wizards have teleportation spells that can take you from one edge of the world to the other in a matter of moments. Traveling by foot takes up time.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Freeport

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRMYvM5TDNs&feature=related

Freeport is considered by most to be the hub of Antonica for a variety of reasons. It is the mercantile center of the continent, since it holds the only port with a regular boat to the island continent of Faydwer. It holds facilities for most of the artisan trades, and most budding craftsman travel to Freeport to take advantage of the readily available facilities. Freeport is also the hub for traffic of all sorts. The good races travel its streets to go to their guilds and the shops, as well as to the boat to Faydwer, and the dark races travel through the sewers to reach most of the same destinations. Guild Halls for all classes except the Rangers, Druids, and Shamans are present within the city.

Arriving at the dock.

Greetings & salutations Mblake81.

I used to play EQ back in '99 and on through hmmm, 2003? I can't remember. I even played EQ2 for a bit - along with about a million other games hehe. (Playing Star Wars The Old Republic right now).

A strange but true story about EQ and me. I met the love of my life on there in 2000. He and I are still together this day. I still find it cool that despite all the thousands of people on there I met (and then met in real life) someone who wasn't living all that far from me! Also, neither he nor I were intending to hook up with someone while playing a MMORPH.

Aaahhh EQ nostalgia.

I miss old school EQ. I was on the Xegony server and played a Dark Elf Cleric (an R A Salvatore inspiration for sure!). I miss the sound of the skeles laughing. The special "ding!" noise when you leveled. Training specters in the Oasis. Accidentally attacking vendors and dieing. Swimming on the wall in Neriak's The Bloated Belly. So many fun times LOL!

Unfortunately I am unable to see any of your links here at work, but I will certainly look later! Thanks for the trip down memory lane

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

The 99server will stop progression at Velious (After that they added so many things that are controversial).

Thanks for stopping in and I hope you enjoy the links.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Upper_Guk

Upper Guk is a great dungeon from levels 15-35.

There is one entrance into Upper Guk from the Innothule Swamp. The entrance is guarded on the outside by two froglok guards, and on the inside has a narrow corridor guarded by at least one higher level froglok guard.

The primary danger in Upper Guk is the sheer number of monsters located within close proximity to each other. It is not uncommon for some rooms to have 5 or more static mobs with several more pathing in and out on patrol routes. There are also a large number of shamans mixed in with the melee classes so expect to deal with heals, nukes and annoying DOT's. Some of the camps are deep within the dungeon and so if something goes wrong (and it almost always does eventually) the zone line is a long way away.

-------------------------------------

*Not shown in the video.*

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Lower_Guk

The Ruins of Ancient Guk is a vast array of tunnels that connect between the ruins themselves and the upper tunnelways that eventually lead to the Innothule Swamp. It is also the battleground between the living frogloks, led by the Froglok King, and the undead who have taken over most of the deepest ruins, led by their Ghoul Lord.

Lower Guk is one of the two primary dungeons for high level characters (35-50). While there are other hunting areas open now, lower guk continues to be one of the most crowded dungeons at primetime. One of the major reasons for this is that the loot here is very good, with many of the "best of" class items available here. Lower Guk can give very good experience, especially at the off hours, but during primetime, finding good uncamped hunting areas can become very difficult.

This dungeon is generally regarded as one of the two most deadly dungeons on the continent of Antonica. It is divided up into two general areas, the "Live" side and the "Dead" side, named for the life/unlife status of the majority of the frogloks within.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Character_Classes

Each class is typically separated into four archetypes: tanks, melee, casters, and priests.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Choosing_the_Best_Class_for_Your_Playing_Style

One of the things that is great about a class based game is that each class has it's own strengths that make people want to play that class. On the flip side of that every class also has it's disadvantages which will make you wish it could do x like class y. The strengths and weaknesses of each class are the very factors which insure that teamwork and grouping in the game will become neccessary to conquer the epic monsters in the game.

Tanks

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Paladin

Paladins are holy warriors who use blessed spells and strength of arms to fight the evil and undead of Norrath. Paladins are primarily a melee class, able to wear plate armor and wield many kinds of weapons. Paladins are able fighters and battlefield healers whose combat spells focus on stunning enemies and smiting undead. They also have several spells that increase the health and armor of their allies. Every so often, paladins can lay hands on themselves or their friends to instantly grant a powerful heal.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Shadow_Knight

Shadow Knights are unholy warriors who use fear, pain and disease to attack all that is good in the world. Shadow Knights are primarily a melee class, able to wear plate armor and wield many kinds of weapons. The Shadow Knight is considered by many as the opposite to a Paladin, while in some ways this is true, on Norrath they aren't the traditional evil Black Knight to the Good White Knight. The races that are capable of producing Shadow Knights are not all innately evil, even Gnomes are known to become them and the Humans have a great many. In a similar fashion to a Paladin, Shadow Knights have to be dedicated to their deity, whether this dedication is because of a desire to serve or to gain in power and wealth is debatable. What is true for certain is none of the deities Shadow Knights follow could be thought of as good and will usually be classed as evil.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Warrior

Warriors are the masters of armed combat and defense, taking the point in battles and going head-to-head with the most dangerous creatures of Norrath. Warriors are a melee class with the ability to wear plate armor and wield all types of weapons. Warriors build their strength and stamina to unheard of levels, making them far hardier than any other class. When combined with their heavy armor and excellent defensive skills, warriors are unmatched in their ability to survive the most brutal battles. Warriors train themselves in the skills of combat, mastering the use of all weapons and tactics. Warriors also learn to taunt their opponents, making themselves the focus of all their enemies' attacks, allowing the less resilient members of their group to remain safe from harm.

*********************************************

Priests

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Cleric

Clerics dedicate their lives to the gods of Norrath, gaining magical powers in exchange for their faith and service. Clerics are primarily a magic-using class, with the ability to wear plate armor and wield blunt weapons. Clerics gain powerful healing and enhancement spells, greatly increasing the health and defenses of their group, while keeping them healed in the most dangerous battles. While other priest classes have healing spells, no one can match up with the power and efficiency of clerical healing.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Druid

Druids are disciples of the wilds, following the teachings of the Norrathian gods of nature. Druids are primarily a magic-using class, with the ability to wear leather armor and wield blunt weapons and scimitars. Druidic magic takes many forms, allowing the druid to fill a wide variety of roles when in a group or adventuring alone. Druids possess excellent healing abilities, powerful mana and health regenerative spells, and valuable enhancements that improve the health and armor of their group.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Shaman

The Shaman is one of the most underrated classes in Norrath. They are very well rounded offering powerful offense, defense, and buffs. Shamans have two forms of offense. Their most powerful damage lies through the damage over time spells (DOT's). Shamans get two powerful lines of these spells. One poison based, and the other disease based. They can stack these spells to achieve a very efficient damage output. Alternatively they can also use their cold damage based direct damage spells. These are good for adding in a little extra punch, or for fights of short durations.

*********************************************

Melee

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Monk

Monks devote their energies to the pursuit of physical perfection, shaping their very bodies into deadly machines. Monks are a melee class with the ability to wear leather armor, wield blunt weapons, and use unarmed combat styles. Monks forego heavy armor and almost all weapons in order to hone themselves into masters of combat, using their fists and a stout staff to make their mark upon Norrath. Monks learn many special attacks to enhance their damage dealing abilities, including the dragon punch and the legendary flying kick.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Ranger

The ranger is a hybrid class combining the combat skills of the Warrior, with the magical abilities of a Druid. The major challenge in the ranger class is staying alive. Rangers have higher offensive skill caps than any other hybrid class. However, they are significantly lower in a number of defensive skill areas. They have a much lower taunt, riposte, disarm, dodge and parry. Because of this Rangers get hit a lot more, and should not be left to tank for significant periods. Unlike the Rogue they have no skill to reduce the monsters hate for them and must rely on their magical abilities or their party to reduce the damage inflicted on them. Rangers get the highest tracking skill in the game, which helps to find people or enemies within the area. This is particularly useful in the large outdoor zones of Kunark.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Rogue

Rogues are the stealthy thieves and vicious assassins that stalk the shadows of Norrath. Rogues are primarily a melee class, able to wear chain armor and use piercing, slashing and some blunt weapons. Rogues are sneaky fighters who always seek to take advantage of enemies by attacking from behind. Rogues can backstab enemies for extra damage, using poisoned weapons for added effect. Rogues can detect traps, pick locks and pockets, and fall safely from great heights.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Bard

Bards are jack-of-all-trades adventurers who use music to create a wide variety of magical effects. Though they often use melee weapons, bards are primarily a magic-using class, with the ability to wear plate armor and wield many different types of weapons and instruments. Bards can do a little bit of everything. Their songs can regenerate health and mana, increase attack speed and accuracy, momentarily charm angry enemies, help friends resist many types of damage and even directly damage enemies. Bards are perhaps best known, however, for their ability to greatly increase the foot speed of their group.

*********************************************

Casters

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Enchanter

Enchanters are the most subtle of spell casters, with little focus on doing damage directly but tremendous impact on the world around them. Enchanters are primarily a magic-using class, with the ability to wear cloth armor and wield blunt weapons and daggers. Enchanters specialize on improving the minds of their allies, with unmatched mana regeneration spells and mental enhancements. Haste spells are also the domain of the enchanter, providing incredible boosts in attack speed for members of their group. Enchanters have many powers of illusion as well, allowing them to take the form of many different creatures and races.

*This was my main in eq live, he was a high elf level 59 enchanter.*

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Magician

Magicians are master summoners, able to call elemental pets to do their bidding and to conjure useful items from thin air. Magicians are primarily a magic-using class, with the ability to wear cloth armor and wield blunt weapons and daggers. Elemental pets are at the heart of a magician's offensive strategy, and typically accompany a magician in all his adventures. This pet provides protection for its master, along with powerful attacks and special abilities. Magicians have a large selection of fire and magic-based damage spells, allowing them to mount a damaging magical assault in support of their elemental pet.

****

Just my opinion,

The best group make up for deep dungeon camping.

1 Warrior
2 Monk http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Skill_Feign_Death
3 Shadow Knight (To help pull with the monk.) http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Feign_Death
4 Cleric
5 Enchanter
6 Shaman

*Note: however #3 can be switched out for different classes. Bards, Wizards(Evac/Nukes) http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Evacuate:_North , Rogues. etc etc.

Inewen gets his J-Boots. It improves running speed which makes travel easier.

*He helped me get mine recently, we are both FD at the AC spawn. The troll camping it was about to leave.*

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Kithicor_Forest

Kithicor Forest has recently become a much more dangerous, dark place. In days past, it was a quiet woods where an intrepid explorer could find many things of interest, but now it is overrun. It is confusing to travel in only because there aren't too many identifiable waypoints and the range that one can see is limited, but it contains good hunting for two different ranges of adventurers, as well as several unique items.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Splitpaw

Splitpaw (now Infected Paw) used to be the home of the Splitpaw clan of gnolls. Now their tribal home has been overrun by another more powerful clan of gnolls, intent on their own political agenda, who use the Splitpaw clan any way that they can. Splitpaw is the site where in gnoll legend, their god set his foot upon the earth, and the surface markings are his footprint. Nobody knows if this is true, but hunters in Southern Karana know the three talons rising from the ground that mark the entrance to the lair.

The monk goes to Lower Guk (One of my favorite old dungeons.)

His commentary is the same style in game, funny with spots of hilarity.

Also see a monk "split-pulling" in a dungeon. That is to break up monsters that are together in order to kill them 1-2 at a time. It is a personal skill.

*Long live the Skeleton Cackle!*

Inewen goes to Kaesora, Kunark.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Kaesora

The history behind the ruins of Kaesora is lost, however most believe that the same cataclysm that struck down the wurm and permanently scoured the surface of the Field of Bone above it laid waste to Kaesora as well. Now only the dead walk these halls. Ancient ruins lie at the heart of this place, presumably the remnants of the structures that were built by the vampiric Warlord Chosooth.

Probably the most prominent danger in the dungeon is the fact that it is very confusing. From the entrance, there are two entrances out of the main room, both pits leading downward. One of the pits leads down one level, and the other pit, if taken far enough, leads to the bottom of the dungeon. The one-way nature of the dungeon is dangerous, because leaving the dungeon is a long path out past many monsters, and there's not really any way to retrace your steps. Once you fall down a beginning pit, you either better know your way or have a way to port out.

*Very interesting tool for P99

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Oggok

Oggok is simple from the outside, and if you were to fly over the cove you would only see a few small huts and one large building jutting from the face of the side of it. However, most of the city lies underground, as the ogres have carved out a place to live despite their limited space. Most of the area is very confusing to individuals who have never been there before, which I would think had been intended if it were not for the general stupidity of ogres. Jubjub might say that a troll had designed the place...

Monk goes to Dreadlands.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Dreadlands

The Dreadlands is the name given to the harsh lands surrounding the ancient Karnor's Castle. The area includes an area of forest inhabited by the Drachnids, as well as the edge of a massive glacier extending down from the mountains. Buried within a secluded valley is an ancient outpost of the Combine Empire.

http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Karnor%27s_Castle

Karnor's Castle stands bleakly in the center of the Dreadlands. Once one of the major military establishments of the Iksar Empire, it now stands in ruins. The inhabitants within are maintained in their unholy life by the eternal Iksar vampire, Venril Sathir.
