This has been something I wondered since I joined here. Why is there no private message system on the board?

I have run a major forum in the past before I joined here and I felt that private messaging was a major tool that everyone used. Not just to communicate and avoid off topic discussions, but to build meaningful connections with other members. On a forum like this in particular, I feel like building meaningful connections is why everyone sticks around here for so long and why the conversations can become very rich and detailed.

So, pray tell, why is there no PM system, and can we expect to ever see one?

They create lots of drama.

I thought you said before, that they don't come with the forum software.

Drama seems to happen whether or not there are PM's available.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. It's nice without it so the drama, and the he said, she said, can be minimized.

Really?

It seems like people decide what's what, without having a need for PM's. I know I've experienced that.

Fair enough. I can see how it would, but nevertheless I personally think it's worth having. If people caused drama on the forum I ran we just gave them the boot!

The LL group is different than the LL page that you "like" on fb. The group is private and I believe you have to be invited, no?

You've added me to like a billion fb groups I rarely post on any of them because I don't really like the format. It's too much for me to keep up with. Too chaotic for my Virgo Moon.

Hey I said minimize teasel, not completely eliminate.

Dramas happen once in awhile, it's a given on a forum.

Yeah, it's not standard with this software, but it can be added with a hack (like these smilies).

Sure I can do that. I'll see if I can find you. I didn't know there was a group, just a fan page. I guess that will allow for contact with other members then, that would surely be useful. Just might be difficult to figure out who is who.

My name is Pieter, so that you'll recognize it.

Yeah, I can see that. I remembered talk of spammers via PM on another board, although people were more amused than anything.

I think this service is *essenetial* and as long as you can block members who become pestering, i don't see what the problem is..

another idea/thought/position is that information on astrological things may not always know the source of author, but 'could' be sent via PM to a member. this information 'could be crucial' to them
