I never want to miss out on an addiction

I don't understand the nature of Twitter. How is it exciting? I love FB and am addicted to that so I must just be missing something with Twitter.

It's all about who you follow on Twitter. When I first signed up I thought it was completely dumb, but then I started following some funny actors/comedians and found more of my real life friends on there. Now Twitter is in my rotation of sites I compulsively check whenever I'm at the computer.

Ok--most everyone I follow is boring except for Randall and LL, of course

I used to just use the search function on there and look up any comedians or actors to see what came up. There are also some funny parody accounts.

Some random things I follow:
https://twitter.com/#!/NotYokoOno
Yoko Ono parody. It makes no sense but makes me laugh.
https://twitter.com/#!/DRUNKHULK
https://twitter.com/#!/elbloombito
Parody of Michael Bloomberg when he tries to speak Spanish
https://twitter.com/#!/SteveMartinToGo
https://twitter.com/#!/frandrescher
Fran Drescher actually tweets a lot about holistic medicine and her cancer charity.

And here's Time magazines list of accounts to follow: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,2058946,00.html

Physilolgically, addictions in all are a brain thing. When one experiences something pleasing, dopamine is released in the brain...and when that pleasing experience is presented again, the brain craves it for the dopamine release.

Cocaine, alcohol to name a couple release extrodinary amounts of dopamine...hence the pleasurable sensations of the substance.

All addicitons come from the same basis, pleasure centers of the brain.

funny thing~

PS @ Fondue I am going to check out that Yoko Ono one; it sounds pretty great!

I linked to the wrong Yoko Ono parody! This is the one I follow:

Nonsensical, yet deeply profound.

I don't like Twitter and find it boring too but that's just my opinion.

Try to make yourself get more addicted to taking walks outside in nature.

I never got hooked into Twitter either.

I jog for two hours a day. It's somewhat of an addiction.

I do 1-2 hours a day of Kundalini yoga a day. I am planning to play guitar in my friends band. I would say that I have more positive addictions than Twitter. Thanks for your input

Hmmmm... I'm more of a FB person.

My boyfriend loves Twitter, though.

Just another way for people and their every move to be monitored...

...I won't sign up. I am thinking of getting rid of my FB.

Exactly & mostly the reason I don't do any social media. Also, I watched friends become addicted to things like FB too and found it a bit disturbing. I don't feel a need to keep up with everyone else's life or know what they are doing or let everyone know everything about me either. It's a great way to distract people from more important things in life and to keep them looking outward. Just my opinion. Not for me.

The days before cell phones and internet - or before most people owned them, seem like so long ago.

I'm glad my friends and i didnt have that growing up. We spent more time with each other and doing things outside or going places than kids today I think. We didnt have the option of connecting thru a screen so we did it the more healthy old fashioned way.

Glad I grew up in the time I did.

I can understand this way of thinking as well. I got a little bit too obsessed with FB late last year and had to take a step back, so I deactivated for four months/took a break. Now I have a healthier relationship with it. I can empathize with your position. For me I came back because I needed to invite people to my birthday party; there are some people I can't even contact without it. And people use that as the only way to share photos with people anymore. I welcomed the break but wow, was it ever a reminder that things have changed and without it, boy can you feel out of the loop:s
